The consequences for nonconformism are very detrimental to ones personality. For instance, if someone does not listen to the popular music of the time they will probably be alienated for this choice. Also, if you do not like that same things as the “trend setters” you will probably be alienated for this choice as well. It is not easy to be a nonconformist because when you a nonconformist, you will be picked on and alienated fot who you are and the choices that you made. You may not be different than the others, but it does feel like it. 

2. I admire people who are humble because when they do something that they should get a bunch of praise for thay just act like it was something normal. I also admire kindness because if someone is a pain to be around why would anyone want to be around them. In addition I admire people who push themselves to be the best at everything they do. When someone pushes themselves to be the best that attitude rubs off on you then you want to be the best at everything as well and both of you lift each other up, not bring each other down. It was my mother’s rose-garden fence”(Hickam 37).
The first quote shows how isolated they were, if he thinks that someone from accross the county is exotic they don’t get out much. Also this town was the social center of their county, everyone went there. The second quote shows that they were just irresponsible teenagers. They weren’t the geniuses they are considered today. They also were unaware what they had done since it was dark. This quote stuck out to me because I have done somethings that I haven’t thought out well, and it reminds me that everyone makes mistakes. ]]> 2019-03-21 16:25:11 UTC https://padlet.com/jacobmueller221/gaguqyh38yfv/wish/343880654 jacobmueller221 https://padlet.com/jacobmueller221/gaguqyh38yfv/wish/345763837 Sonny feels that his mom wants him to succeed, but his brother and father could care less.  In the memoir Sonny’s mother wants him to get out of Coalwood by any means, so when he starts to build rockets she supports him whole heartedly. She exclaims during a conversation that “Coalwood’s going to die”(Hickam 44). The town Coalwood is a mining town in West Virginia. Sonny’s mom, Elsie, knows that one day perhaps soon the mine will run out of coal and the town will disappear. This is why she wants homer to leave Coalwood, so that he does not become a miner for a dying mine. Now his brother and his father have a very different view on Sonny. They do not care what happens to him. Yet, near the end of chapter 7 his father helps him out by telling him that he can use a dump to shoot off his rockets. His father tells him that “If you want to fire off rockets heres the place”(Hickam 107). To start it off, his father lets him drive the to the dump where he can shoot off rockets. Also, this dump is a mile long, so the boys have a lot of space to shoot off their rockets. Sonny’s father does not really like him because he wanted a daughter and instead he got a boy. This cause a lot of fighting between them at the beginning of the memoir.
