My project is an app that uses AR and social media to help students plant a garden in their homes and yards, while engaging with disciplinary learning of math, science, ELA, and more. Some critical considerations:
- Providing multi-media solutions for students who learn best in different ways (video walk-throughs, text descriptions with audio functionality, etc.)
- Scaffolds for a range of outdoor/garden experience, including personalized advice from educators and access to additional resources.
- Materials provided for equal opportunity.

In my classes (both online and in person), I constantly ask students questions about their work, home and other aspects of their life. While this is meant to help me understand my students better, it also lets me consider what kids of access and opportunities they have or lack, and how this might impact the learning I have planned for the course. I am always sensitive to the issues that I have faced as a learner - being an international student, or a second language speaker of English - and try to dig deeper into the other issues and problems that disadvantage my students.

My Learning Environment is very practical- how to teach R&J to students with dyslexia, ADHD, and/or executive function disorder via a distance learning platform. Our class and homework time have been cut in half and their are constant concerns about excessive screen time and increasing anxiety.
-All lessons are powerpoints that get uploaded to the school website for as needed access by students
-Expectations have been greatly reduced and scaffolding has been significantly enhanced
-Students are provided with differentiated expectations depending upon their LD. (Dyslexic students have shorter writing assignments.)

My project is re-designing a once in person 8hr training to an online module for my student staff of residential leaders. The goal of the training is to make sure students understand their job responsibilities, build community within their staff, and begin to develop their understanding of what it means to be a student leader.

Students are going to engage with a variety of modules on a canvas site that allows them to engage in a myriad of ways. We want student to post video responses, take some of their reflections to social media all while still engaging in traditional assessment too. We want to design this training with the needs of the students in mind and have incorporated survey data to cover topics students find most empowering.

My project utilizes several materials to gain an understanding of how to complete 3 types of crowns.

First a lab book has step by step instructions with images on how to complete the restoration, temporary and seal. A video will also be included. This includes those students that are visual learners.

Students will then use Advanced Sim, a virtual reality device, to practice completing a crown prep or temporary crown before completing the procedure on a plastic tooth. I am hoping including Advanced Sim into the lesson plan will help more students!

A lecture will be included so that students can ask questions to the professor and receive more information.

Students will ultimately have to complete the project on a mannequin.

Is there a type of learner I am missing?

Foreign language learning app

This app is for adult learners to practice foreign languages. It consists three parts. The first part is lessons about vocabulary and grammar under different topics. The foreign language is designed as several types of moveable blocks according to their difference grammatical functions. Some vocabulary blocks will be labeled in both foreign languages and their native languages. The second part is practices. Learners will be given authentic communication tasks, which require them to communicate with real foreigners. In each task, learners should organize the grammar blocks and vocabulary blocks in order to generate a new sentence to talk with other foreigners. (For those who do not have the condition to talk with a foreigner) The third part is assessment. Learners will be asked to assess their foreigner friends’ sentences (re-organization of blocks) to earn extra coins in this app. In the meantime, tutors will also provide their professional feedbacks to learners. (especially for those who may be neglected by peers for any reason)
