The phenomenon of Smart cities is spreading all over the world. Smart cities incorporates technology to gain data and make life more convenient for citizens. Facilities like transportation are easily facilitated due to the technological advancement smart cities provide. This is essay will briefly mention the downsides of smart cities then highlight the positive perspective. This writer aims to convey that smart cities are not harmful and do not create new problems for society.

Some individuals might argue that smart cities are corrupting and damaging society. Smart cities raise concerns regarding privacy and safety of personal data. Harrison(2021) is worried about surveillance cameras incorporated in smart cities. The quantity of these technological tools poses a threat to peoples’ personal life because their data is collected on a daily basis. Moreover, establishing smart cities is risking the security of citizens because of its unique features (Harrison, 2021). Social

networks are directly intertwined with the technological systems developed to aid transportation , communication and energy. Hence, it forms an alarming possibility of hacking and cyberattacks. Additionally, Smart cities can also threaten job stability. Harris (2021) discusses how AI could decrease the availability of jobs in smart cities. Thus, the technology in smart cities might replace real jobs and increase unemployment. However, the downsides of smart cities are overshadowed by the benefits.

Many people support the development of Smart cities because it can be of assistance to citizens. Smart cities makes daily life procedures more convenient. McDonald and Stewart (2022) reveal that smart cities could aid in reducing traffic within cities which in return lessens time of commute. This implies that smart cities increases efficiency within cities and saves people hassle. Avoiding pollution is possible with the use of smart cities. By substituting harmful substances for renewable resources will help decrease polluting the air (McDonald and Stewart ,2022) . Waste can be easily disregarded due to the

technology in smart cities. Black stone(2021) emphasized that through compressing waste, it will help decrease the number

of times required to collect trash. Hence, smart cities will decrease the time and effort it takes to perform daily. Moreover, the standard of life could be improved through smart cities. Black stone(2021) and Harrison (2021) both believe that smart cities increases accessibility to facilities especially for dibbled people. This can create a massive difference for various people in their life.

In conclusion, smart cities reduces the number of problems in society and helps to prevent them. There are some negative aspects that comes with smart cities like privacy issues, and job availability. Nonetheless, smart cities have proved itsusefulness by facilitating the lives of many on a daily basis while securing the health of the planet.

This paper will argue the convenience that smart cities bring to people.

Smart cities can bring variety conveniences to people’s daily life. However, it can also bring harm to us as well. Firstly, smart machines will collect data extensively in people's lives through sensors and surveillance cameras and others, which will make people feel that their privacy will be affected (Harrison, 2021). Besides, Harrison (2021) states that automation and AI could lead to an increase in unemployment in cities. Smart city systems are connected through digital networks for functions, such as transport, energy and communications, which means there are security risks associated with cyberattacks and hacking.

Although there are some negative impacts of smart cities, they still bring many benefits to people. In the first place, the smart cities have powerful technology, which can enhance traffic management by decrease congestion and commute times (McDonald and Stewart, 2022). Furthermore, Blackstone (2021) believe that smart city technologies can increase the lifestyles of people with disabilities by giving them better transport options, adaptive infrastructure and digital services. Moreover, Harrison (2021) and Blackstone (2021) both argue that smart cities can have a positive impact on the environment by using renewable energy. Additionally, people can use smart bins for more effective waste management, optimise waste compaction and improving space utilisation.

In conclusion, smart cities can bring a plenty of benefits to people. Since smart cities can create more community spirit and allow people to participate in the community and provide feedback (Harrison, 2021).
