The protest was in response to the shooting of an unarmed Black man, Jacob Blake, 4 times in the back by a police officer in Kenosha, Wisconsin. 

This case and its outcome have intensified conversations around:

• demands for justice and healing in response to racial bias in policing
• the disparities between the use of excessive force along racial lines
• white privilege in the criminal justice system
