You will have a class discussion on the purpose of music videos with illustrations. Take notes from class discussions and show your understanding using subject terminology correctly on your blog page. upload your brainstorming map to this task.

You must consider the following points:

- Promotional benefits of the song or album

- Purpose of the music video to artist or group

- How does music videos generate money for the record company

- Extension of income - release of the music video, advertising

- Producers strategies i.e. Youtube, Vevo, Social networking

- Synergy - Promotion for the film industry

Promotional - This benefits the song and the album as well, for example 'Krept and Konan' have done this perfectly with their new album " The Long way home" reason being as one of there tracks is a mainstream radio song which attracts a much wider audience, this is great as a lot of listeners fell in love with this song which led them into buying the album which had a lot more tracks which are not as recognised and not something they would usually listen to compared to hard core fans.

Purpose - Purpose also known as "What is the reason?" displays a special way in which the song or album was produced for this can be a tribute or either for a charity. A great example we came up with was 'Band - Aid' who produced a christmas song to raise money for people in poverty. "Do they know its christmas" was a song from 1984 which was re released especially for the charity in 2014.

Generating Money - Music videos can generate income/money in many different ways all from charts to views and also product advertisement within their videos paid by high end companies which now leads me onto the extension of income.

Extension of income - Many music videos receive there money via extended income, this can be where companies pay for their product to be shown within the 4 minters or so, this can alternate a huge amount of success. A great example of this was by 'Migos' who created the song "Versace", the whole song and video was based on the high end designers which showed and advertised a huge amount of their clothing and jewellery.

A huge strategy of income is social media sites for example twitter, Facebook but most of all youtube as the most famous youtube is the biggest site in the world for video recognition, within this site you can achieve excellent things and also make a grey income.

Synergy - Synergy is where a film is promoted within the lands of film, this can be a great source of advertisement and income if all goes well. As a group we discussed and came across the song which is called 'See me again' by "Charlie Puth", this is a very emotional song which is featured in fast and furious 7 also known as part of Paul Walkers testimonial.

They also received a further extension of income by 'Apple' as they allows shim to feature with an iPod throughout the whole music video. This video also kicked off the young mans career which turned out to be a huge success when it comes to young talent.

The music video itself was a worldwide sensation achieving over 250 million views and 209 thousand likes, then later received 150 thousand subscribers after the success of his video. I enjoyed it as i believe my generation can relate to both the music video and lyrics, The video itself is set in an amazing tropical environment which is what make sit stand out. I also really liked the camera shots especially the over the shoulder shot as it captured a huge amount of expression and emotion. §***-§

Pop Music Video Carly Rae Jepsen "Call me maybe"

This video sung by Carly Rae Jepsen is 28th most video on youtube which makes it extra special, the purpose of the video was to be a twisted love story, something different from the original boy meets girl and falls in love. Its a very exciting music video as it is very varied compared to others, firstly Carly starts to stare at her lover as he's cutting the grass, she then copies very task he does which ends up in her falling over, this then switches her into a dream which where she is picked up by her lover.

The Music video hasn't really generated any other extended income through product advertisement in films etc but it has been advertised by many big stars for example Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez they both tweeted it the day it had been released which led to a huge amount of growth which also attracted agencies on Carly's behalf, later that day Carly got signed by School Boy Records. In an overall view it was promoted for her career and future albums. Carly did receive some extra income from live performances just after it was released, the young American preformed on the 'Ellen De Genres Show', 'Friday Download' and 'Comedy Central'.

For video outlets the single was a huge hit reaching 725 million views worldwide which is a huge platform to be on, because of this the music video itself has been rated the 28th most viewed video on youtube. It was also played a numerous amount of times on MTV as it went through the top 100 charts, VEVO also uploaded a version on their youtube channel which created a lot more publicity.

As it came to sales This single was the best selling song worldwide in 2012 as it sold just over 12 million hard copies of Cd's, if we look worldwide it sold just over 18 million in total, a further 6 million plus downloaded digitally on iTunes, hitting number 1 in their all time chart. To this date Carly Rae Jepsen has had the best selling single in over a century which is a great achievement for such young artist.

The 'Call me maybe' Video by Carly Rae Jepsen was really interesting to write about as i loved the music video myself, reason being as i bought a change to the every day 'Love' video, instead the directors added a sense of quirkiness which made it incredibly exciting.

Rock/Indie Music Video Say Something (A great big world) Christina Aguilera

The purpose of this music video was to reach out to conflict within families which is what was posted on Christina's Twitter page, The music video on youtube features a child and its domestic parents who won't stop arguing with each other, a young couple and also an older couple where the man is saying his final farewells to his dying wife. The producers tried to show the audience the emotion of all 3 generations at tough times in there life, its extremely heartbreaking.

Because this song reached out it had many extensions of income as it was featured in many movies and series, for example; it was featured in episode 13 of the "Vampire Diaries", Also a canadian TV programme called "Rookie Blue" featured this song in their season finale and the song is also in season 4 of "Red Band Society". With extra income it also creates a lot more advertisement for the song as the viewers of programmes get attache the song itself and cannot wait got download it once there programme has finished.

As we move onto video outlets the music video was uploaded by Vevo, whom are tied with MTV in showing professional music videos in the top charts. The video itself gained 232 million views as well as 1 million likes on a worldwide base, it was also sown on mtv as it reached to number one in 5 countries as well as being number 4 in the UK charts.

As it came to hard copies in America Christina Aguilera sold 213 thousand in one week and had 39 million radio plays as well as 355 thousand downloads over a series of devices such as smart phones and tablets which is astonishing, it had a much better view in the audiences eyes than the original and sold a lot more copies due to The addition of Christina Aguilera.

I personally really enjoyed watching this music video as it ties in really well with the lyrics as it includes a huge amount of emotion. Having the three generations of characters is a great addition as it caters for all audiences as everyone can relate to it themselves.

1950' Elvis Presley Hound Dog

- The artists image

- Music itself

- Fashion Trends

- Quality of the footage

- Types of shots

- Editing techniques

- Speical effects

-Styles

In the 1950's Elvis Presley was one of the greets and still is to this day even though he has sadly passed away and 'Hound Dog' was one of his classics. Elvis was a huge inspiration and image to many people in the music industry, he was all known for his slick clothing and song lyrics and as a lover for all women in the 50's with his famous sick haircut.

As well as Presley there where many fashion trends floating around that era as many people started to feel freedom in what they wore, for women they mainly wore waistline dresses, the 1950's was known as sleek and sheen to many people which sums its fashion up perfectly. When it came to men they where extremely well just exactly like Presley, many suits where worn with open top shirts mainly in greys and navys and also whites, everyone wanted to look like americans which was why these colours where used.

The quality of the video was very poor due to it being shot in the 1950's, it was extremely grainy and also in black and white but what do you expect it is over 60 years old.

When it comes to shots there are a huge amount of long shots panning into mid shots which captures the whole band in the performance, as every music video on this era is based on a live performance. There was also a huge amount of side closeups with captures elvis and his old school mic showing him singing luring with emotion.

There wasn't a huge amount of editing techniques and special effects used as the videos used to be very basic and only used to capture live performances, although in Presley's videos we did see a few transitions which was cut between each shot including many fades which made the video flow.

The Style in music videos in the 1950's was very simple, more or less very sing video in this era featured nothing but a live performance being recorded, although it was very basic this is all they could do and in my opinion it is great advertisement for the artist as he can express his talent.

1960's The Beatles She Loves You

The Beatles where a worldwide sensation in the 1960's a continue to be till this day, i have chosen this music video of "She Loves You" as its a great hit and is featured in the most famous "Twist And Shout" Album. This song itself was released on the 23rd of August 1963 Which was written by famous stars like John Lennon and Paul McCartney. The Beatles had an extremely popular image across the whole world and have featured on many pieces from songs to memorabilia and ben having football stands named after them, Even though many passed away from this group there name still lives on and is continuously in the moon light which is a lovely touch to show what they achieved as a group.

Music in the UK in the 60's all mainly followed from the Beatles, Due to the success of the Beatles it allowed many local bands and talent to grow through the industry and show there up and coming pieces. The uk music industry became the known as the 'British Invasion' due to the amount of artists expressing their love for the industry, we saw a huge amount of rock compositions as many famous bands started to form such as 'The Rolling Stones' and 'The Animals'.

When it came to fashion The 1960's was known for there diverse trends across the board as many weird and wonderful things broke out, PVC dresses and clothing went into fashion as well as boots and the most famous bikini which came out in 1963 and tends to live on till this day. People also loved to dress in patterns and used many whacky colours also known as 'Highlight' Colours.

Compared to the 50's the footage of the music video has shot up dramatically as it is well shot and features full colour throughout the whole video, this time Music videos have moved away from the basic live performance from start to finish and have now decided to include a brief introduction and ending. Although the video itself does include a performance they show the full build up from when the crowd arrives till when they leave which is a great addition, from a viewers point it makes like you a part of the crowd.

When it comes to shots we firstly see that theres a huge amount of panning used inside a mid shot which enables the cameraman to capture the crowd, we also see varied close ups to capture the expression and singing of the band which is a nice touch.

In this era editing techniques and special affects where still not massive due to the lack of technology, instead we are still shown dissolves and fade affects which is the transition of each shot to make it work and flow.

I loved the style of these Music videos in the 60's as it almost turns the concert into a short film, its also highly interesting and great for the viewer. This sort of style was also used and created to advertise the atmosphere of the 'Beatles' famous concerts, telling the audience that they can be part of this madness.

1970's Jackson 5 Blame it on the Boogie

Yet again we feature a worldwide sensation which goes by the name of the 'Jackson 5' featuring the Jackson family and also the hit star Michael Jackson who made a huge career once split from the band he then went onto be a solo artist. The Jackson's introduced Disco music with This hit called 'Blame it on the Boogie' which was released in 1978. The Jackson's image was huge to the world due to there culture and discrimination against black people at the time, their talent silenced these haters.

In the 1970's we saw a huge amount of variety, more than ever before in the music industry, R&B, Soul, disco, Hard rock and soft Rock came into action opening up a whole new audience.

When it come sot fashion in the 1970's many people know it as a huge revolution when it comes to clothing and also hairstyles, firstly as you can see large afros where hugely popular, these where also featured by the Jackson Brothers in many of there videos. Clothing wise bright colours where carried on from the 60's and a new form of material arrised called polyester, Many women and men started wearing tight trousers and shirts of the same colour as well as high boots.

As we move onto the music video itself we first asses the quality of the video, yet again the video features full colour and features no grainy content so altogether its excellent quality for its age. what we do start to see in the 1970's is special effects which is what il move onto later.

Throughout the video there are only mainly three shots used; long shot, mid shots and close ups due to most of the video focusing on the performance of thee group, however we do see a huge amount of tracking from left to right as the Jacksons 'Boogie' constantly throughout the whole video.

Editing techniques and special affects is a huge one in the 1970's as the growth from the previous era is incredible and the jackson video is a great example for it, special effects wise the Jackson's have included a continuous shadow affect behind each member of the group which looks incredible but you can definitely tell its one of the first to be used as its not that great quality at all. This effect is nothing but positive as it makes the video stand out and catches the readers eye which is great for advertisement and expressing the Jacksons talent. Editing wise we see some basic cuts of dissolves and fades from left to right which tie sin nicely with the special affects used and helps to make the music video flow and make sense to the viewers.

A lot of style came from happiness and love within the music industry in the 1970's and the Jackson 5 was an incredible example of this as they introduced the art of disco music which was set out to be a huge hit.

1980's U2 With or Without you

U2 was introduced to the music industry in the 1980's, the irish band had a huge influence within the world and especially irish music itself. They inspired many youn frock bands as they became the new face of rock, this led to the inspiration of many more bands such as 'Oasis' and the 'Kings Of leon'.

Disco fell out of fashion in the 1980's and a new trend of dance music came into fashion in this era, dance and pop also became a lot more popular whilst rock stood firm at number one and continued to widen there audience was some great hits, for example; With or without you by U2. On another path the 80's also saw an entrance of thrash metal which was created by famous band like 'Metallica' and 'Slayer'.

The 1980's was the first era to introduce high end designer items which became a big trend as well as expensive accessories, men and women started to look wealthy and successful through the clothing they would wear. Opposite to this there where also many punks around who started a trend of loud and colourful clothes/shoes which excelled and escalated and became very popular.

When it comes down to music videos its all about the quality, as we can see in U2's video the quality is excellent and is shot in extremely good high definition capturing every single form of emotion and expression.

The shots are very varied within the music video but display a huge amount of details, its the first music video i have seen throughout this project that have start dot use high and low camera angles making the leader of the band powerful and also weak and many times within this video. I also love the use of close ups within this music video as they pan into each member of the band, this shot imperticular shows her powerful and heartbreaking the song is capturing each moment of emotion. I also love when the cameraman pans into the next shot which is a great technique within music video when the lyrics mean so much.

Throughout the years editing has grown a huge amount since the 1950's to the 80's and in U2's video you really can tell as they have used it to there full extent y switching to each shot. It make sit a lot more interesting to watch as a lot more is included. One of the main technique used in every single shot in this video is the excellent dissolve where one shot partially goes into another making the viewer know whats happening next. There is also a huge amount of cross fades which ties in really well with the movement between the bands, laying off a lovely affect.

Within the video i loved the special effect they used with the smoke machine which cover stye whole of the shot then fades into the next one which looks astonishing, this was also used with a black and white background which works really well.

When it came to style in the 1980's a lot of emotion was used throughout music videos and was expressed in many different ways, smoke machines and other gadgets where starting to get there use in music videos as well with many more affects such as lighting and also many black and white scenes.

He was also known to many people as 'Simply The Best'. Micheal's image was so popular to many people as he expresses everything he has been through in his music as he sends out many messages about ethnical matters and appearance. Once listening to His music many people realise that once they listen to his music all there matters and problems which is the great affect that Michael's music had on people.

The 1990's showed a generation of all different genres making there way up the chart, this era mostly known for teen and dance pop also featured a huge amount of Rap and Urban R&B which was also extremely popular. Rock also continued to dominate the scene with many sub genres such as; industrial and alternative rock.

When it came to fashion in the 90's tattoo's and body piercings became the new revolution of the era as well as many simple casual looks such as plain t shirts and light blue jeans, in a id of this we saw a sense of minimalist fashion. Also a huge amount of glamour wear came into trend as super models tended to dominate the scene, many women wanted to copy this look which highly escalated.

As we look at the video visually we see that the quality is yet again excellent and shot in full high definition throughout the whole video, at not one point does the quality differ or look poor. What has changed is the footage as its must better quality content wise, the Music video features a short story/film which is great for the viewers to see, the film is then cut and switches to Michael's performance. Content wise this is one of the best music videos that i have watched especially for the early 1990's. Compared to the other era's its so good to see a music video which is shot on more than one set, a revolution in the music video world.

There was a huge amount of different shots used within this video due to the amount of content compared to other era's, after looking at the oldest/most basic music videos it really is quite drastic how far they have came over a period of decades. Firstly we get introduced into a breath taking tracking shot which sets the scene and takes us for a ride foreshadowing where the video will be set, a vast amount of long shots are also used to capture the whole set as well as many close ups to show expression and emotion. Theres one shot imperticular which i love, its a low angle shot looking up at the young boy with his guitar, this makes him look extremely powerful compared to his mother and father.

Special affects and editing paid a huge part within Michael Jackson's video as it made the storyline for the first few shots, as the little boys dad gets shot into space. There where also many explosions and fires which added a huge amount of tension and interaction with the audience. A green screen was also a great addition to this video as it was used in many shots, for example when Mr Jackson was standing on top of the Empire State building, it adds that extra detail which is really rewarding as a viewer. The editing within this music video was completed exceptionally well with many fast cuts used to make the video flow, the camerawork was excellent which also benefited the editor a huge amount as he had a great deal to work with.

This music video is an excellent example of the style used within the 1990's, all music videos of this era turned technical with many great editions of effects and edits. Music videos also became jam packed with content for the viewers, Directors also used more than one set which is a big difference from the 50's,60's,70's where we just got to view a blank performance.

In an overall view over the years the music video industry has definatley changed for the best and has now became the best way for an artist/band to show off their content to a world wide audience with its excellent quality and visual content nothing will ever beat it.

Her official video on her VEVO channel is filmed live at the royal Albert hall which is simply breath taking. It is perfect for the song and artist as it shows how big the audience she reaches out to is, the whole crowd is left in silence, a live video in a concert format is a great way to advertise talent which leaves viewers speechless, a great form of advertising.

Interpretative is a very interesting style within music videos, it means that something looks like something else which confuses the viewer, this is usually first predicted by the song tittle. For an example i have chosen a foes song by Rihanna called "Russian Roulette", reason being as its such a big pop tune it makes out that Rihanna is in a Russian prison but the viewers don't know why what so ever, this makes the viewer really think which paints a great picture in their head.

This video and song is extremely powerful in many different ways, firstly its called 'Lego House' by Ed sheeran, the song itself is seen to be in the indie pop genre and represents an excellent t narrative video. Narration in a music video is when what is shown tells a story and displays as a series of event, this video is about a massive Ed Sheeran fan who follows in the limelight to be near his star. This video is extremely popular as its different and only shows Sheeran 2 or 3 times through the whole video which is what makes it stand out, these styles are extremely popular within modern day music videos.

These music videos are very interesting and very surreal, they are an abstract piece of work which tends not to have any relation towards the lyrical content, most directors like to create the feel of dreams within this technique which is extremely interesting. Surreal affects are amazing to watch due to the high use of distortion. A great example of this would be Rihanna's video called 'Disturbia' as it the video has no relation to the lyrics what so ever, also a lot of dramatic lighting is used to create a surreal affect.

The famous song Alejandro by Lady Gaga is a very good example as within this music video she imitates Madona's video vogue due to the similar miss en scene.

Parody is an unusual style within music videos and only a few are around due to the lack of popularity, however the minority have been really successful and a massive hit within the music industry world, for example Captain Jack Sparrow. This Style is when a spoof is made to mock an original piece of work, other parodies have also mocked artists and authors, it can be incredibly humorous and draws in a huge amount of attention. Within 'Captain Jack Sparrow' Many films are mocked, for example; Pirates of the carribean, Scarface and forest gump to entertain there audiences, they do this in such a fascinating way by recreating different scenes in each of the movies.

Referencing plays a huge part in many music videos as it can almost make the storyline, many producers use scenes out of films to replicate their video which can be excellent for advertising purposes. Material Girl by Madonna is an excellent example as they almost replicate the film "Diamonds are a girls best friend " as both the film and the music video is a about a girl only loving her man for money.

Homage's are also packed full of love and emotion as well as expression. I have chosen "See you again" by wiz khalifa as it pays respect to Paul Walker who sadly lost his life in a car crash, Paul was a huge inspiration to the world and featured in many different fast and furious films, As a viewer you can see many slow motion shots of Paula walker as well as low angle shots which make him look powerful, its a lovely video.

Lyric interruption of the song

Lyrical interruption is when the lyrical content refers directly to the content in the video which is great for the viewers as it makes it really easy to watch, a great example of this would have to be Rebbeca blacks Friday as within her video she represents everything which usually happens on a Friday whilst repeating the general terminology of a Friday itself. Lyrical interruption is very popular as all viewers like to have an opinion on what they think each lyric refers to which can create hours of fun.

Camera shots within this video are used highly effectively, movement is also key within Rebecca's video as we many tracking shots which covers her exciting movement which tells us the viewers that she is extremely enthusiastic due to it being a Friday.

Within the scenes mise en scene plays a huge part as it firstly sets the scene of the whole production and video and contains all aspects of lighting, costumes, props, actors and actresses. A great example is the shot when all four of the actors are featured within the car all dressed up as the shot is layed out perfectly it sets the representation of the night out and gives the viewers the idea that it is finally Friday.

Extending or considering song's meanings

This is when songs have a meaning which can mean something else which the audience don't already know about and is generally annoted a lot deeper, music videos always are very meaningful but within this technique the main meanings are always a lot broader within the horizon and can push many boundaries which makes the viewer think. A great example of this would be Lonely by Akon as the Viewers believe that he is just all well and lonely but within the video they try to get the message across that he wants revenge and is not lonely what so ever which is a huge representation, this is also expressed through his lyrics. One of the key meanings of this video is the fact of revenge as he says 'I see you creeping' which lets off a huge picture within the readers mind.

At the beginning a log shot is used to establish the video which is a great camera shot as it shows what Akon is about and not just lonely which is what the track is called, many close ups are also used of his jewellery to make him look powerful and big.

As we then move onto the mise en scene we see that the artist is always being looked upto from a low angle making him look very powerful, props are also used to a huge extent on the main artist which consist of gold chains and jackets making him yet again powerful and rich swaying away from the title which is 'Lonely'. The lighting is also used extremely well as it mainly focuses on the man himself with a black background, this is great as it highlights the main subject foreshadowing many things towards the audience.

Editing wise Jump cuts are used to a huge extent within Akons video as it allows him to switch from scene to scene and shot to shot expressing a huge amount of emotion as time goes by.

Allusion

Allusion is a very similar technique in some how to the one which I have just talked about it references something which is not always shown on screen, many films can be referenced within music videos just like Right there by Ariana Grande featuring Big Sean as they decided to present a for, of Romeo and Juliet, this is e Greeley affective within the industry and also for the viewers as it can send out many hints and also helps paint a picture in the viewers mind. Ariana Grande produced an excellent piece as the audience immediately saw that the song focuses on love and emotion within the first few cuts, it also shows glimpses of happiness just like the famous Shakespeare play does.

As its based on a love song a huge amount of close ups and extreme close ups are used of the couple to capture an extent of there emotion, long shots are also used to set the scene of the dance floor which is one of the main parts within the music video and within Romeo and Juliet.

Costumes are a huge part of this video as its based on Romero and Juliet the costumes play a massive part especially with the allusion technique, all characters are dressed as they are set back in the Shakespeare era all wearing fancy hats, trousers and shirts.

In the main scene within the ballroom all of the actors are laid out really well which gives the viewer that a structured dance is being performed which yet again ties in with the Romeo and Juliet theme.

Lighting is also a key aspect within this music video and is used incredibly well from scene to scene, as the music video focuses on one couple lighting is used to signify this and highlight the couple.

This also references things within the music video itself just like referencing which I have just talked about but instead an artist is linked instead of a film or another production, I personally love this technique as it is great at advertising another artist or Musian and can show hoe good there work is, it also foreshadows future productions which can be made between the two artists which is extremely exciting for life long fans. A perfect example for this would be Katy Perry's famous him TGIF which features Rebecca black, whom is another artist who recently had a big hit with 'Friday' this is great for advertising purposes within Rebecca's Career and also shows a lovely bond between the two artists which is always nice to see.

When it comes to links to other artists within Katy Perry's music video a huge amount of mid shots are used to capture Katy Perry and her link Rebecca Black, a mid shot is excellent as both of them can be featured within the shot from the waist and above. camera movement is also a huge aspect due to that fact that a ,assume party is being filmed, tracking helps to capture everyone's movement and dancing.

Mise en scene wise I love the way the shots are laid out and all of the actors are placed perfectly in each position, the subject are always in front of the camera which is Katy and Rebecca and then you always have the dancers in the background playing the party goers, it looks great.

Coulorful props and ribbons where used excellently within this video to catch the viewers eyes as well as sharp bright costumes to make it an happy environment and atmosphere.

Cutting to the beat

Cutting to the beat is an excellent technique used by editors within music videos inside the industry, cutting is also known as changing so in this instance the shot is cut to another based on the beat/lyrical performance. My example for this is the famous Adele performing 'Rolling in the deep', this relates to this technique and is used very heavily within her music video as in each scene every lyric is related to what's going on, for example when she says "We could of had it all" a plate is then thrown and smashed.

Effects

Effects is massive in this day and age are huge and are used within music videos to add to the narration of the video and to also make it look like the video/lyrics actually mean something. The video I have attached below is called "I need. Doctor" by Doctor Dre, it's my fave route video for effects as within the video the artist crashes three Lamborghini cars in total which has all been used to full effects and if he really crashed them that would cause the production team a huge amount of money and insurance costs.

Miming and lip sync

Miming and lip sync is one of the most popular techniques within producing music videos, the artist will mime throughout the whole song which the editor will then add in the track within that process although it can be extremely tricky due to timing for the artist itself. John Legend "All of Me" is an excellent example of lip syncing and it has been produced very well, he is also playing the piano within the video which ads that extra touch and thrill, this makes the viewer think that he is really singing.

Playback and lip sync

One of the most popular techniques within music videos, playback is where the track is played in the background so backing dances can dance along to it, it's all used to singers can synchronise there voice to it making it out to the audience that they are singing in full blast. T.G.I.F by 'Katy Perry' is a great example of this as a version oft he famous track was played in the background so everyone could Dance due to it being filmed at a house party, this gets the timing and rhythm going which is really great.

Multi - Image

Multi image is. Great technique with in the music video, it just means that multiple images are used throughout the whole video, I personally chose the Art I monkeys "look good on the dance floor" as it uses this technique in such great detail, if contains many multi images from all angles as there video contains a band performance so all different images are used to capture instruments, singing , emotion and a huge amount of expression.

Camera Movements and Angles

When it comes to camera angles and movements this is one of the biggest aspects of shooting and bringing together a music video, we see this in every single video in the industry. Within 'Hideaway' by Kiesza, a Tracking shot is used to cover her movement as it follows her whilst she walks down the street, this is one big shot, Panning is also used to cover movement from left to right in the shot. When it comes to shots itself Close ups are used to capture and collect emotion and expression which is used in a huge amount of adele's videos and also Emili Sande's, log shots we used to set the scene which are also known as the establishing shot, this will usually be the first shot of the music video. high and low angle shots are also used to represent how powerful a character is, usually used in film but also music videos as well.

Chroma Key

Chroma Key just like Green screen is heavily used within music videos in the special effects stage which is also known As post- production. It is used to remove backgrounds from images or videos, chroma keying can be completed with any transparent background but mainly green and blue as they work with all skin colours, it's an excellent technique which gives tons of videos a huge amount of character making them extremely interesting and exciting for the viewers. The video I have attached below was Micheal Jackson's first ever video and was filmed entirely on a green screen which a lot of people didn't know, this was also the start of the Green street era.
