In this case, an example of the non-price determinant is the expectations of future relative prices. If the expected price is high, then Dd curve shifts upwards. - Irina

Chuah: It's true that your textbook uses shift upwards, but remember, try to think of shifting rightwards. And yeah, if people expect prices to go up in the future, then they'll buy now now now, which is what results in an increase in demand

More people are consuming and demanding for coffee which means that supply is gradually dropping. As coffee suppliers only have limited amount of coffee and demand for them are increasing, they must increase the price of their coffee to be able to gain more profit as their coffee stock decreases.
