Avery-
In this picture steph curry and a friend who is not named. He is hanging up nets in Africa to avoid malaria. It's really nice to see someone so widely known in a small hut that provides little shelter. After seeing this picture I was wondering who the guy next to steph is. Is he a friend

Gina’s review on Stephen Curry’s 3-pointers: A swish come true project for kids in Africa

When I read this story I didn’t except him to be donating this much money to a such a great cause. I kind of expected Steph to be one of those celebrities that just goes to and plays basketball for a living and does nothing else. But I was wrong, he has a wife and two kids and his wife has a cooking show that they both appear on. And Stephen decided to do something nice and made a project for all the kids in Africa. Everytime he makes a 3 pointer he donates a mesquito net to a kid in Africa. I was so surprised he would donate them because it’s a lot of money.

Averys refection---
When I read this passage I didn't expect it. What I expected was steph curry a MVP award winning basketball player just donating a few thousand dollars to people in Africa. I was way off, he had decided that every 3 pointer he made he would put 30 dollars together to buy a Mosquitoe net(each net is 10 dollars). Keep in mind he make about 3 points per game and in a normal season which is when they don't go to play offs they play 82 games. He not only donates the money but he goes and helps hang the nets up. The nets are so needed because about a million people die every year, mostly from malaria. The malaria is caused from Mosquitoes and can be deadly. It really is heart warming to see steph go out of his way to help.

Avery-
I feel like it's important for women to stand up. Especially African American women. Being a female is hard enough in sports because you aren't "as fast" or "as strong" and being African American is hard because skin color has always been a major conflict for a reason I do not know. But here are two WNBA players wearing shirts to raise awareness. I personally have never seen them so I'm wondering who they are and how many people wore these shirts.

This was a harsh topic just knowing about all the shootings and gun violence. But knowing that a lot of the players want a change and a difference in it is very caring. Dwyane wades cousin was killed in Chicago and I could just imagine that, that had to of effect the way he played or even made him want to play harder and score points for his cousin. They were all taking a stand for they believed in and what they wanted to change and what NEEDED to be changed. They didn’t just want to take a knee during the national anthem but they wanted to find the solution to the problem. Which was going to definitely be harder but they were determined to find the solution.

Averys review--When I was reading this passage I felt really happy. Seeing all of these people that so many people lookup to being a leader and stepping up trying to make a difference is heartwarming. They are trying to take a stand for something they believe in. For example dwyane wades cousin was shot and killed in Chicago. He was severely impacted by this major event. People all came together to help him out and raise awareness. They take a knee during the national anthem because this national anthem is saying we should praise the people who "help us" when they are killing us. Many also wear warm up shirts to raise awareness. Some NBA players wear shirts saying "I can't breath" and WNBA players have warm up shirts saying "chance starts with us"

This article was super touching to me being that I’m a girl that plays and loves basketball. The boys had to decide whether wanted to move on and play the games without the two girls or stay together as a team like they have been for several years. All 11 of them voted to stay as a team and not play in there last 2 games and postseason games. They decided it just wasn’t fair to move on without some of there valuable players. I was surprised that they made that decision because it makes me think about if our schools boys team had 2 girls on it and it was up to them to choose whether to drop the girls or stick together they would drop us in a heartbeat!

Averys review--
I didn't really know what to expect. At first I thought it was just going to make the girls join a girls team. Which would be surprising if it was Co Ed. But The author also thought I knew this was not a Co Ed team so it was either boys or girls, not both. So I was not as surprised but still a little surprised that they would erase the previous games from the season. When I was reading I felt super touched that these young boys decided to stay as a team;it didn't matter if you were a boy or a girl because no matter what you're a team.

This article was talking about how women are fighting to play sports and they finally can but in a separate gym with no men around. I don't understand why it's such i big deal for women's to be seen playing basketball. Yes it's a big part of their religion but they can still wear sweat pants and long sleeves to cover up. But at the same time it made me really happy to see these women fighting for change. They said basketball made them feel more confident and they lived how that felt.

Gina’s Leagues propel Japanese-American girls to basketball success

Befor I read this article I thought it was gonna be about a Japanese basketball for people that weren’t aloud to play a regular league. But it was a lot different. But they kept referring back to the Japanese league so they inferred that I already knew what it was. A lot of the girls that played in it are very very skilled but just are not aloud to play in a different league so they have no option but to play in the Japanese league. Most of the players in this league are short so they have a disadvantage but they have such good skills it not a big obstacle for them.

Averys review--
When I was reading this article I thought it would just talk about mixed races playing, and how they didn't get as much attention. But I was so wrong, the article was talking about girls and boys playing Japanese basketball. And how they have to play this because it's one of their only options. But I didn't know what they meant when they said "Japanese basketball" I thought there wasn't a difference and they author didn't explain it. They thought I knew what it was already. I wanted to know what it was so I searched up the differences.its is not as fast-paced and focused on the individual like it is in America. They have some different rules and it's not that big of a difference but still noticeable. They talked about how it's more difficult for them and his it makes them push. They are genetically shorter and it's more difficult. And it's really great to see them push to be as equal as everyone else.

I kinda of thought that this was gonna be a silly story about basketball players doing yoga and it wouldn’t help but turns out doing yoga did help them. Lots of players seemed to not focus or there gamed seemed to be slower than usual so researchers said to have breathing treatments. And it did work but for some they used yoga. Yoga helped them be more focused and concentrated in the games. They seemed to play faster and yoga was there cure.

I’ve learned that basketball is not just a sport that we play but the people that play it have big hearts and want to help others too. Like someone of the best players in the league want to help the people that are less fortunate than them by using there own ability, basketball. I’ve learned that basketball has helped people in many ways that I probably would have never even thought of. I chose this topic because I for sure have a passion for this sport and wondered if other kids in the world had the same love for it as I do. I learned that people in other countries also play this sport and it’s actually very popular in Japan. Buyback it makes me want to come up with ways that I could could help kids that aren’t able to have a basketball court or maybe just don’t

I expected to see kids growing up strong and healthy. I expected players to donate a few thousand dollars to a charity. But I saw things like women being able to play when only a few years ago they would get in trouble.and other less privileged places getting help and getting to get what they deserve, like the mosquito nets hung up by Stephen Curry to avoid malaria. So I expected some health issues basketball and working out helped but I found individuals standing out for what they believe in. And I figured out that's how basketball affects people's lives.
