Meriwether Lewis was born on August 18, 1774, in Albemarle County, Virginia. Meriwether was raised by two men who were in the army, and by a mother who was a herb doctor. Meriwether served six years in the army and made his way up to captain. He was also very trusted by Thomas Jefferson.

I would take Meriwether Lewis because he was trustworthy. He had experience as a leader, which would be a good person to have with you. Lewis was also the captain of the army, so he obviously knows how to defend himself and others. If he was trusted by Thomas Jefferson, I trust him. Another good thing with Lewis is, he was already experienced with plants because of his mother, and that would be good to know because he could say if it was good enough to eat or not.

He had only one eye but was a very helpful man. He was also very known and experienced with the lands. Pierre also spent time trading with the natives.

Pierre would be a very helpful addition on the journey. First of all he could help us find our way around the land. He could help us trade and avoid conflict with the natives. He could also keep us entertained by playing the fiddle. Another good component is he was small so he wouldn't take up too much space, or eat to much food.

For a non-military member to go with on this expedition, I chose seaman. Seaman is a dog and a member of the Corps of Discovery. Seaman was one of the newfoundland dog breed. The color of seaman was unknown, but it was not really that important. An Indian once offered three beaver skins for Seaman. Another time Lewis, Seamans owner believed that Seaman had went missing, but he showed up early the next morning.

Seaman had went to gather a beaver from the water that was shot down by a member of the Corps of Discovery, and when doing so he was bit in the leg. The beaver bit through an artery, and Lewis said it was hard to stop the bleeding. Seaman would be a good addition on the trip because he can protect you from other animals, or just warn you about threats. Also he can hunt for you.

They have around four petals each. I think the Corps liked them a lot or think they had a significance because they were named after a important person. These flowers could be helpful to florist to know if they are good flowers to sale.

Lewis and Clark came into contact with the Blackfeet Indian tribe. They were located more in the Northern Plains, or Montana. The tribe had relations with Canadian and British merchants. They would trade beaver pelts for guns, alcohol, and ammunition. At first the Blackfeet didn’t think so high about Meriwether and Clark, but they decided to stay the night with them for a night to get a feel.

This is where things went downhill. Meriwether and Clark mentioned that they were allies with the Blackfeet enemy the Shoshones. The Blackfeet did not like this at all. So they decided to try and attack Lewis and Clark in the middle of the night and steal their guns. This caused members of the Blackfeet tribe to be killed, becoming the first bloodshed between the western Indians and reps of the United States.
