By allowing kids to document ALL of their thoughts/or reactions to a text, it seems more natural and they can really grapple with what they are reading. It makes reading fun and accessible to kids who don't really think they understand what reading strategies are. It would be great to start this earlier on so that they are familiar with it as they move up at Avenues.
