The number one take away for me was that I need to have a living will, organ donor signed on my license, and a proper plan for my children if something was to happen to me. My goal is to have accomplished these with in the year.
Thank you everyone for your comments and involvement in my learning of Human Development.

I enjoyed Jane McGonigal's Ted Talk and the idea of growth by the 3:1 positive experience ratio through social, mental, physical, and emotional resilience.

As i was learning new things i never even thought about or knew before... As i was creating a person and writing about someone life.. As i was reading, watching videos and chatting with others about everything we went over during this course; I started really enjoying myself! Learning things about human body's, human's thoughts and development was honestly amazing! Learning and talking about the different milestones in everyone life. And i really enjoyed Jane's talk. Suffering from depression and anxiety and seeing/hearing how games can help...Made me really think! Thank You!

Throughout this course I have learned so much. I think the biggest thing for me was learning how much we are all developing even after childhood. Normally after twenty-one to twenty-four the developmental process is competed. However, as you go through life there is always some form of development going on. This has truly opened my eyes to the changes in all the ages of people around us. I feel like there is so much I will take away form this course. I really enjoyed learning about all the things that can effect the childhood process.

This was the perfect class for me to take during the final weeks of pregnancy and first weeks with my daughter at home, I loved that i got a little refresher on newborn and early childhood care, since its been 3.5 years since i cared for a newborn. I also thought the end of life chapters were pretty interesting because of the way the books broke down middle and late adult hood, considering we only spent less than a quarter of our lives as children but put the most into development and growth during that time, when in reality we are always growing and developing into even into late adulthood.

I learned that I still have a lot to learn about myself and that I am still figuring out who I am and who I want to be and that is okay. I learned that I am going to go through many changes in the future cognitively, socioemotionally and physically. I also recognized what phases and concepts I experienced and realized how it all makes sense now, even though it did not make sense back then when I was actually experiencing them. I remember my first break up and how I felt like no one could relate and thought it was the end of the world, then I learned that everyone else experiences something like that and it is known as a personal fable. This class was very beneficial to me and I am excited to experience the stages as I get older and actually understand what is happening. I also enjoyed learning about how important it is to have a healthy diet and lifestyle.

Psychology is one topic that continues to change each and every day. To include the last TedTalk (that I will continue to use); we do not have an eternity on Earth. It is up to us to explore, learn, fail, and get back up. This class has strengthened my knowledge and my overall interest in the human psyche. I am glad I was able to learn so much so quickly and still grasp it all. I will continue to develop my knowledge in psychology and found this class the perfect way to start. So, thank you Professor Friedman. This class gave me the opportunity to open up interests I did not know I had. However, I quickly learned that everything I was learning I would apply when raising my own child. Halfway through the class I found out I was pregnant, and re-read the book to relearn about the developmental stages and a growing child. I will apply what I learned, especially when it comes to the social and emotional development, to helping my child succeed in life and maintain a healthy body and mind. Learning about all the different disabilities and diseases that children can get made me realize there is a lot more than I ever realized.

Child (grandsons 5 & 8, and pursuing degree to work with children under 5 yrs. Old), young adult (my daughter is 23 years old), middle adult (I am headed toward this), late adult (we care for my 89-year-old mother in law) and end of life.

This course has been a learning experience for me on many levels. I learned about time management and how an online class differs from a class in school. I am a single mother of three children, so I found it to be very formative when learning about their human development in a cognitive, physical, and socioemotional way. This class also helped me learn how all stages of life are different developmentally in turn learning more about myself and to be a better informed as a mother, friend, and daughter. I was so excited to get back in school and learning about Human Development was a great starting point towards my psychology major.

When I first started this class I knew only the basis of what they taught you in high-school about the body. But when it comes to the development of the body from start to finish is an amazing thing. I have learned so much from this one course, but one of the many things that stuck with me the most would have to be the twenty five unknown facts. There were so many great unbelievable things in that video. For example the fact that all babies have a mustache that grows over their whole body and then sheds itself later on. With my fiancé and I starting our new family this class was great to take. Even though I have the app on my phone, there is nothing like learning it fully first hand. This was a great experience. This class has helped me by knowing what to expect in some situations with newborns. This was a great class thanks you!!

One of the most valuable lessons i will take away from this course is the importance of making sure I am in the best shape mentally, physically, spiritually, etc. before i try to be there for others. All too often, i have burned myself out to the bone trying to give others food from a plate that was empty, and i was already starving. Trying to give others a drink from a cup that was drier than the desert, and i was already dying of thirst. I have learned that the most important thing is to have something to give before you offer to give anything. If you have nothing left to give, you start giving away pieces of yourself. Pretty soon, there will be nothing left of you to give. Thank you so much for all your teachings! It was a pleasure!

The most valuable take away from this course for me, was that no matter what stage of life we may be in, we are all growing and changing. I could apply everything I have learned in this class to something relevant in my life. I have experienced most of the major life changed mentioned in our coursework from birth of a newborn to grief and loss of a loved one. I thoroughly enjoyed this course, especially because everything is obviously so relatable.. you know, us being humans and all! My favorite part, had to be learning about the cognitive changes in humans throughout their lives and many many things I have learned will stick with me.

This course truly was a an eye-opener in the area of human developmental process with empirical data. I seem to use more of the "lingo" learnt here, that challenges my colleagues I work with. Life is always a learning in progress and I have gained the strength and the impetus to broaden my horizon.
Thanks Prof. and all.

I recently tested for my LNA and have to say the last half of this class helped me with my test. Learning more about ageism and the changes our older generation are going through will help me as an LNA.
Also, learning more about the changes teenagers go through will help me relate to my own children as they change and grow into adults.

This course has not only allowed me to grow and learn more as a mother and a teacher. Learning about child development and the importance of the different milestones that each child grows through, and having the understanding as they go through them. Children are not "little adults" their emotional, physical, mental, and intellectual foundations are still forming. Being a teacher in a baby classroom I see my babies changing everyday and having the ability to experience this. By taking this course I am able to take away things that I wouldn't of known prior and share with my own classroom. Thank you for everything this semester!
