Something I wanted to explore within my neighborhood was the topic of noise and noise pollution. Since Chelsea has experienced a resurgence in the past couple of years, there has been a lot of construction going on as well as an increase in tourism further downtown. The construction is ongoing at pretty much all hours of the day, but I wanted to explore where else noise pollution comes from in terms of people.

Another topic that I wanted to exploring with soundscapes is how people who are reliant on sound (such as visually impaired people) react to sound.

when i walked around sam's neighborhood (hell's kitchen) i noticed that it appeared to be more residential and a little bit more quiet than chelsea. he pointed out the placement of several small mom and pop shops in comparison to storefronts owned by larger corporations. i also noticed a variety of restaurants in the area.

overall, compared to chelsea, hell's kitchen was slightly quieter and more people-forward. it feels like it might be easier to establish a daily routine within this neighborhood.
