Tear Gas: Induced tears but wasn't fatal. The amount of gas actually used usually wasn't enough to do anything so they became redundant. These were fired out of artillery shells (along with every gas in the war).

Chlorine: A choking agent that produces a greenish-yellow cloud. Inflicts damage to the eyes, nose, throat and lungs. At high concentrations and prolonged exposure it can cause death by asphyxiation (loss/lack of oxygen due to abnormal breathing).

Phosgene: Made by the French, it was colorless and scentless and was six times deadlier than chlorine. Soldiers affected by phosgene did not know and after a day or two, their lungs would fill with fluid and they would die a painful death. Phosgene is responsible for over 80% of chemical weapon deaths during WW1.

Mustard Gas: The most notorious gas weapon during this time, produced by Germany, causes severe internal and external bleeding, skin blisters, blindness, and vomiting. It can be fatal in high doses. It was dense enough to pollute the ground and become a "liquid" staining battlefields for days. It caused the most casualties during the war, but was limited by open air making it almost non-lethal.
