•Firstly, people put in a-lot of effort to edit the photos of themselves to look their best . Due to insecurities, some people use editing apps to change the appearance of themselves to look more desirable. Example; celebrities editing their facial features and figures to latest beauty standards. Thus, proving people only show their best selfs

•Secondly, people with low self esteem try to get validation from others through social media. If a picture is not well received they are likely to delete it as it makes them feel worthless, like they are not good enough.

•Thirdly ,can express themselves better through social media than in real life because it is easier  , with lesser ‘standards’ which they have to ‘live’ up to .

Another reason is that they will feel more lonely as social media makes them isolate themselves from others. By using social media too much it could give anxiety and depression, and generally make us feel more lonely and disconnected from others. For example, a lot of people have been posting pictures of themselves using filters on Instagram because they want to feel better about themselves and they will compare themselves with others. This will lead to others feeling jealous or inferior to them making them feel depress and insecure.

Lastly, social media could cause miscommunication. People fight with each other through social media because they are scared to face each other in real life. They tend to gain confidence behind the screen. However, some may be missing some points that could lead to an argument. For example, me and my friend were texting on WhatsApp and because of him/her misunderstanding what I was trying to say, that leads to us fighting and drifting from each other. This shows that miscommunication not only make us more disconnected from each other but could also ruins friendships.
