Social Media is making our work fast and easy. We are able to communicate and socialize to people around the world with the use of social media. Aside from being able to communicate, we are also able to work, sell, ask for advice, make money, have fun and study. However, this change is taking advantage of humanity. It is controlling us without us knowing. We can do things we don't usually do. We are inclined to think that this is what we should do and what we should follow. Ever since the invention of smartphones and the opening surge of social media platforms, we started to lose the essence of real and physical interaction. As the video stated, we tend to shorten our vocabulary and use text abbreviations, and even invent new ones in some instances. We risk losing the nuances, subtleties and intimate parts of our very rich vocabulary and with that shortening, we lose and run the risk of not being able to fully express ourselves and communicate. Losing our vocabulary equals a potential loss of being able to express ourselves. I am the type of person who does not engage too much in social media, presenting an idyllic life and perfect relationships to social media is not my thing contrasting to what the video suggests. Personally, the only purpose of social media is the convenience of connecting with people. There are times when I immerse myself deeply, and there are times when I don't immerse myself at all. Social media has aided me through tough times and also helped me in connecting with various people, which turned into friendships and close relationships.
