The Roman Republic had its flaws but one thing it managed well was it military, the Roman army conquered lots of new lands which flourished the Roman Food Supply.
People in the Army:
The citizens in the Army were usually wealthy plebeians because you had to own a certain amount of land. This made the army more selective and more skilled. The law that you had to have a certain amount of land was changed from here to there, but mostly the Romans army stayed very selective until the Empire.
What a Soldier was Paid:
In the Roman Army, the soldiers were very well paid, but the soldiers were not just paid through money. They got shelter and food. The soldiers also got lots of medical attention the doctors in the army were well trained. The army also gave soldiers in the army stability. This gave them a stable place in the Romans social order. The soldiers in the army also got some of the booty equipped in conquering land and cities. The soldiers also got bonuses from high officials if they did well on the battlefield (Loyd).
Food Supply:
The Romans have a very stable food supply because of there success in their army. The army conquered lots of new lands gaining many more land to farm on. The navy of the Romans also was able to control the Mediterranean Sea. The Romans had ports all around the Mediterranean. This allowed the Romans to fish at their own will. The booty the army equipped was a valuable resource for the Government to acquire the citizen's goods and money (Wasson).

Technology and Architecture in the Roman Republic were inherited mostly by the Greeks, but like most things, the Romans inherited from the Greeks, they advanced it in extraordinary ways, while the education was mostly based on reading and writing the Romans took it their priority to educate the senators to come.
Architecture in the Roman Republic:
The Romans took the classic outline of the Greeks and advanced it to no end. The theatres that were in Greece were nothing compared to the decorative theatres of the ancient Romans. The bath buildings in Rome were built with big arches and very advanced domes. The aqueducts of ancient Rome allowed them to carry lots of fresh water from many kilometres away. Huge and very decorative arches would be displayed above the Aqueducts (Cartwright).
People Who Go to School in Ancient Rome:
The patricians had lots of faith in the Roman Religion even though most of them were privately schooled at their own home. These homed schooled kids were schooled by educated tutors. These patricians could afford books these books were not in normal plebeian public schools. The patricians were working to become senators this shows that the senators in Rome were smart and were very educated. Girls were not allowed to attend either of these schools. They would get married around the age of twelve.
Learning in School:
The patricians manly learned about politics to learn about being a Roman senator and what the duties were as a senator. The plebeians schools were mostly learning how to read and write. They would practice writing on wax tablets because the paper was very expensive back then. The would do simple mathematics on an abacus. When they got older they would to specific studies. The patricians mainly learned how to public speak for that would be a talent you would have to have if you were to be a high official in Rome. The plebeians and the patricians would study famous Roman writers (Trueman).

The Religion of the Romans during the republic was inherited from the Greeks, but the Romans took them as their own, they added new names to the gods and took them as more serious people, more so people can look up to the gods as heroic figures, the Romans took their religion very seriously they would have multiple festivals a year for each of their gods.
The Roman Gods:
The Roman were polytheistic which meant they believed in many gods each of these gods had its part of life to be the god of. The Romans gave these gods human characteristics. This allowed the people to relate to the gods more than the Greeks were able too. The gods in the Roman religion were also a bit more serious than the original Greek gods. The Greek gods were based on drama the Roman gods were taken as more serious nobles.
Rituals/Festivals:
Each one of the Roman gods had a festival for them at least once a year. These festivals were very important to the Romans, but the rituals of the Romans were taken very seriously in that if you did not perform the ritual the god would curse you for the rest of the year. In ancient Rome, public rituals were more important than your own individual religion. The kids would skip school to go to these festivals. The festival was based all on the god it was honouring.
The Serious Traditions of the Roman Religion:
The Romans took their religion very seriously but not just by honouring their gods the Romans would pick a few girls from the patrician class at the age of 6 to be "vestal virgins" they would serve as them for the next thirty years. These chosen girls could not get married and had to remain chaste. This shows the things people would sacrifice to keep the religion true and keep the Roman traditions intact (Wasson).

The Roman Republic was built so everybody could have a say who was the ones who were allowed to make the laws, the Senate was a group of people who voted on the laws that would be passed through Rome, this system was useless when the senators became corrupt and allowed government officials to get too powerful, and win over the hearts of the people so the Senate had no control.
Corrupt Senators:
The senators were people who voted on laws to control the people of Rome. The senators were wealthy patricians who would do anything to win over the hearts of the people and sustain their ego. The voting sometimes came down to the wire and the Senators would do anything to win the majority vote. Many of them went to the length of killing one of the Senators voting on the other side. These actions were never stopped until the killing of Julius Caesar, one of the most popular men in the city. He was stabbed 23 times by multiple Senators on the Senate room floor. This proved the great measures the Senators went to and, what they thought restoring the peace of the Roman republic.
Government Officials Gaining to Much Power:
The Consuls were usually the ones crossing the power lines of Rome, but there were two Consuls in Rome and the military leader was usually the ones crossing the line. The Romans army needed more soldiers because they were conquering more and more land for the Republic of Rome. This need for soldiers made the Senate lower the amount of land you had to have to be in the army. This led to generals going to these small towns all over Rome to recruit peasants to be in their army. The generals promised them land and money. To acquire this land and money the army's had to conquer more land to give to soldiers in their army. This also meant that the soldiers in the army were not loyal to Rome, but instead, they were loyal to their generals. This led to the Roman Government having less power than a general leading an army. When the Senate thought they were gaining to much power and they called them home the generals would realize they are a threat and the general would march on his home city ("Green, The Roman Empire. Or Republic. Or... Which Was It? | Crash Course World History.").
Crime in Rome:
There was lots of crime in ancient Rome because there was no police force. This led to people not being able to walk on the streets with their families without a private bodyguard. Wealthy patricians would sometimes hire their own little army's the army's of different families would fight on the streets and no one would do anything because there was no police force. The higher officials would have people murdered if they were in the way of their political success. Gaius Marius had many Senators killed when he was Consul, and he was still very popular. This shows that it was normal in ancient Rome for people to actually eliminate someone from your competition (“Donn, Lin, and Don Donn”).

The Roman army conquered lots of new lands but most of the booty went to soldiers this left less money for the things the city had to build like aqueduct, roads, arenas, and sewers, the Roman Government needed a new way to fund these essentials to run Rome.
Where the Money is Going:
The Roman architecture was very advanced this meant the buildings cost more money to build. Things like aqueducts are made across long stretches of land. The sewers were built mostly underground so they had to dig down which took time and money. The roads of the Romans stretched all across their conquered land, that stretched eventually into Spain. They were very helpful but since lots of people travelled on them the government had to redo them a lot. The Romans used arenas holding gladiator fights and chariot racing. They were very popular and cost a lot of money to build.
How the Government TRIED to Make Money:
The Romans needed money so they hired people called tax farmers, the tax farmers would tax families around the city. The tax farmers were in it for the money. The problems with this system are that the tax farmers got to choose who got taxed, it was totally out of the government's hands. Many people would bribe the tax farmers to assign them fewer taxes. The tax-farmers were happy to take the bribe. If your family did not pay the taxes or don't agree to pay the taxes they would be sold into slavery.
Did It Work?:
The money the tax farmers brought in was still not enough this is really what led to the Senate to lower the amount of land you have to have to be in the army. This gave people like Caesar and Marius gaining more power. They were great generals and gave the people money to feed their families. Caesar gave land pensions to soldiers allowing some of the money to go to the city. The Senate lowering the amount of land you had to have to be in the army might have gained them more soldiers but it really just leads to them having to give them more land and money. The tax-farmers was a failed attempt to save the Republic, all it did was caused more corruption to the Roman city (“Donn, Lin, and Don Donn”).

The ancient Roman Republic excelled in architecture not just because of the Greeks but the way the Romans advanced it. The Romans decorated the Greek-based theatres into ways that represented the power of the Romans. Just like some of the Romans technology the base of their religion is from the Greeks, but also just like the Romans Architecture, the Romans turned it into their own. They made the gods more serious, the Romans also gave them more human characteristics. The economy during the Roman Republic the Romans food supply flourished because of the number of goods and money the army was bringing in. The markets were very popular, the schools were even let out to come to the markets so the kids could help by foods for their family's. The Government sometimes had its flaws, it allowed the people to have a say who made laws in their city.
