Sra. Godinez. (1) My grandparents migrated from Jalisco and Nayarit To Baja California Mexico. In the early 1950's and 1960's and my parents met and married in the tiny town of Ejido Ruben Jaramillo just south of the beautiful beach city of Ensenada. My grandfather worked as a Farmer, Welder (he was one of the best in Baja at the time) He also worked as a fisherman, and my other grandfather worked as a farmer, horse jockey, and laborer. Some fun stuff to do there is go to the beach, Hiking, Dirt bike riding, Eating fresh seafood, and simply relaxing with family. (2) My family speaks English and Spanish and many times even Spanish. We code-switch between the languages all the time especially with verbs but we understand each other and we speak both languages daily. When we visit our parents (My kids grandparents) Or when we go visit family in Mexico, we use mostly Spanish. (3) We love some chilaquiles, tacos, Enchiladas, Fish tacos, We also love a delicious in-n out burger, sushi, and some pizza. (4) We do celebrate Dia de muertos because my husband's family Who is from Central Mexico has always celebrated. We love to get together for Christmas with family in Mexico most years. We also have adapted Halloween as a tradition and we have celebrated with our best friend for the past 10 years. We also celebrate days like dia de la rosca, Thanksgiving, and New Years eve.

(1) My Grandparents on my mother's side were born in Metro Manilla, Phillippines in the 1950s. My Grandfather grew up in the north section of Manilla where he competed in basketball tournaments and later moved to America in the 1990s. Same with my Grandmother, she also immigrated in the 1990s. Together, they had 4 children. (2) The language that my family dominantly speaks is "Tagalog". Most of my family, including me, can understand and speak Tagalog. (3) My family's favorite cultural food is "Sisig" and "Lumpia". Personally, I enjoy my family's cultural food and our favorite desserts from the Philippines are "Biko" and "Halo-Halo". My family tradition is to open 1-2 presents at midnight and open the rest on Christmas day. Also, our traditional Christmas dinner is called "Boodle Fight". Essentially, this is a dinner where we spread all the food on one table and eat as a family.

Ella Jones: My family comes from a very large variety of ethnicity: British, German, Irish, Jewish, and Chilean. Although my heritage mainly comes from Europe, my family mainly embraces our Chilean culture since my Grandma (from my father's side) immigrated from Santiago when she married my Grandpa. They lived together in Santiago for a few years together before moving to Ecuador and having my aunt, and then moving to Hawaii and having my dad, and then moving to Maryland and living there for a few years before moving to California. My Grandpa's family came from Britain to Alabama in the late 1800s after the American civil war. He met my Grandma when he was stationed in Santiago while he was in the Navy. On my mom's side, my grandpa's great grandparents immigrated from Czechoslovakia to Wisconsin in the early 1900s. On my grandpa's mom's side, we think that they arrived from Britain during the first few years of early European settlement. My grandma's dad's family moved from France to New York to flee nazi persecution during WWII. Her mother's family immigrated from Ireland three generations before since my great grandma used to talk about her grandparents speaking Irish. The majority of my family speaks English, but my Grandma from Chile is fluent in Spanish as well and all of my second cousins from Chile also speak Spanish. My family really likes all of the food my Chilean grandma makes: Cazuela, empanadas, pastel de choclo, and more. For traditions, we celebrate together as a family Christmas, Thanksgiving, Halloween, and Easter.

He also only speaks Spanish just like the rest of my grandparents, but knows the least English out of all of them. Some of his favorite dishes he likes to eat are posole, tamales, tortas and more. He likes to hold a lot of get together s at his house and throw party's. One family tradition we do with him is we all go over during the winter and help make tamales for Christmas.

1. My moms side of the family is from Italy. My grandma and grandpa immigrated from Italy when they were super young. Before they came to America they used to spend lots of time making there own food. They used to wash their own clothes and dry them. They would do everything on their own. 2. They learned how to speak English but Italian is still spoken around. 3. My family's favorite food is lasagna. We eat it every Christmas and my Nanna makes it. Our favorite dessert is biscotti cookies that my grandma makes. One of our family traditions is celebrating Christmas all together. We eat together and then wait some time and have desserts then open up Christmas presents. We do this every Christmas Eve.

My grandparents grew up in Alexandria, Egypt, and were mostly poor their entire lives. They had 4 sons, my dad being the eldest. He, being the oldest child had left for America first when he was only 17. He left to establish a home for his family back in Egypt to migrate to. The family eventually migrated and he continuously went back and forth from Egypt to America while still in school. They speak mainly Arabic and learned English, but it is broken. Our favorite foods include macaroni bechamel, mahshi, kofta, and rice. We are a part of the Coptic Orthodox religion so our traditions are primarily based on the religion, but some are taken from Egyptian culture as well.

She spoke fluent Italian and even taught her kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids some words and phrases! But, we only speak English. When my grandmother was still alive, we would go to her house every Tuesday for an unforgettable Italian dinner! We would have pasta, sausage, meatballs, sauce, lots and lots of cheese, and of course, garlic bread. Italians love cheese but I am not the biggest fan. One of our family traditions is to eat an even bigger Italian meal on Christmas Eve! That is one of my favorite days of the year because I get to eat all of my favorite foods. Another tradition we do is we open one present on Christmas Eve from my grandma which is always shoes!

1) My great grandparents on my mom’s side met with my great grandpa coming back to Jalos after he was sent to the US to avoid the Cristero War happening at the time, however when he was sent a letter about his mother passing away that was supposed to be sent to him months ago, he moved back to Jalos where he married my great grandmother. Then they started having kids throughout upper Mexico jumping from state to state having kids until they had my grandmother along with a few uncles after that. They then all migrated to the US after my great grandpa found a good job from one of my uncles who was already in the US. My grandpa was the same except he never moved around Mexico and stayed in Jalisco until he met my grandmother and decided to move with her in California to which they then had my mother and then she met my father who was also from Jalisco and they met and had me. 2) My grandparents only have spoken spanish up until they started living in the US where they spoke English. 3) My families favorite foods are tamales, tostadas, tacos, carnita and pollo.4) My family loves to celebrate big parties when it comes to being a teen in Mexico and make tamales near the end of the year with the whole family.

On Thanksgiving, we sometimes go on vacation for 5 days.

My mom came to the U.S from San Pedro Cahro, Michoacán, México in 2001 to have a better life and to be able to raise me since there were lots of problems back then in México. My great-grandparents and grandparents from my mom's side are also from there. My family speaks Spanish and sometimes Spanglish (English as well but only my cousins, some of my aunts and uncles, and my sister, the rest of my family speaks only Spanish). My family's favorite foods are Mole, Green Pozole, Tlayudas, Tostadas de Tinga, Tamales, Uchepos, Huaraches, Sopes, and Caldo de frijoles. Some of my family's traditions are that my mom always makes Ponche Caliente on Christmas Eve and we celebrate Christmas at my godmother's house or if we can we go on vacation to Tulsa, Oklahoma to celebrate the holiday at my uncle's house (my mom's brother).

My father's side of the family is from Sicily in Italy and they moved to New York and learned English. I don't speak any Italian but my grandfather does. He didn't teach it to his children so I know very little. Our favorite foods are pasta dishes and soups. During the winter we make pizzelles which are kind of like super flat and wide cookies dusted with powdered sugar.

Sra.
