🌲 Body rock, paper, scissors - children run around playing rock, paper, scissors with which ever person is free, they must count together 1,2,3 and then do their whole body move. Rock - crouch down to the ground, paper - stand up super straight arms by your side, scissors - arms and legs apart in a starfish shape. Explain the rules of how someone wins/loses, sit down if you lose a round, keep playing until there is a winner, play again!! This game should be quick and could be played a few times. Great for cold weather and to get running around and warmed up! ❄️ ✂️

🌲Eagles eye -

🌲Chaos tag (easier version) - Everyone can tag anyone! If you get tug, sit down, continue until 1 person remains, if 2 people tag each other at the same time, do rock paper scissors to decide who stays and who is out. Repeat game as quick as possible.

🌲Animal noises - allow children to decide their partners, agree on an animal sound and practise it to make sure both doing the same sound, 1 person in the partner hide and the other seek. Allow hiders 30 seconds to hide, seekers not looking, shout 'RISE AND SHINE ANIMALS' the hiders make their animal sound

🍁 Take a hoop, find a place on the ground and get children to really look close into their circle, move to new area, what else can you find?

🍁 Collect leaves as a group, discuss colours/shapes, can you sort into piles?

🪵 Think of an action (with or without sound effects) to represent what you have done/enjoyed/found difficult today - share if you wish after 3, 2, 1.... Would anyone like to tell us about their action?

🪵 Reflection cards (in drawer in shed), choose 1 card and read allowed, who would like to share their thoughts? eg, 'Something I found tricky today was...' trying to make the den stay up because the pegs kept pinging off!!

👀 Find something.... long, short, tall, wide, heavy, thin, spiky, rough, smooth, pointy, round etc.

👀 In Spring - keep exploring the buds, watching how they change each week and allow all the discussion that comes from this.

👀 In Autumn - keep exploring how the leaves/trees/ground is changing each week, find a brown leaf/green leaf/crispy leaf/leaf with holes in etc.

As with any lesson in school, if it's not going to plan, allow for flexibility. In forest school especially, the children will lead the session in a way you would never have thought of when planning..
