The Texas "Revolution" was a rebellion of colonists and Tejanos against the Mexican government.

This Caused Tensions because there was now a fairly large group of people who not only fully opposed the south, but were actively trying to convince large parts of the population that Slavery was deplorable.

The political parties of the time heavily dis agreeed on this matter and these tensions would increase leading up to the 1850 election

New territories could not vote (Popular Sovereignty) on whether or not they would be slave states, this also repealed the Missouri Act

This would cause tension because it would limit the expansion of slavery to the West, most settlers were Northerners and they were far less likely to vote for slaves

In Dred Scott v. Sandford, the United States Supreme Court that held the U.S. Constitution did not extend American citizenship to black people. Three for he could not be declared a free man, despite living in the north for many years.

This caused outrage will all abolitionists, and caused a further push for the emancipation of the enslaved blacks in this country

This was the last straw for the South, he was very opposed to slavery, and that caused them to feel attacked/eventually caused them to seceed. especially following all of the other conflicts from the past 4 decades.
