Believe that both the society and economy should be run democratically to meet public needs. They do not believe in an all-powerful government but do not want big corporate businesses to control society. They are strong advocates for abortion and LGBTQ+ rights.
U.S. DATA SURVEILLANCE:
- Democratic socialists believe that government intervention is important, but some level of privacy must also be maintained.
TRUST IN THE GOVERNMENT:
- Democratic socialists are willing to give more flexibility to the government in order for them to distribute wealth more evenly. This would mean an increase in taxes and price control implemented by the government.
GOVERNMENT AID TO THE POOR:
- Socialists believe that poverty is a natural cause of the capitalist marketplace. They support Single Room Occupancies as a way to decrease homelessness but are pushing to provide good quality housing for everyone. In addition, they believe that we all are entitled to healthcare, childcare, and education.
INTERPRETATION OF THE CONSTITUTION:
- Democratic Socialists interpret the constitution loosely. It is argued that some of their views contradict the Declaration of Independence since it limits their rights to pursue business enterprise. However, they use the Constitution to justify their views on welfare and gun control.
VIEWS ABOUT COMPROMISE:
- The socialist party finds it difficult to compromise since capitalism and socialism are on polar opposite ends of the spectrum. If private ownership is combined with socialism, the system still remains an open market society.

Based off the British Tea party protest, the tea party is a conservative political movement that opposes excessive taxation and federal government. They call for reduction of the national debt, and supports stronger immigration control. "No taxation without representation."
US DATA SURVEILLANCE:
- Not something that the Tea party is very keen on because of how skeptical the members would be about the government intervening in the personal lives of citizens.
TRUST IN GOVERNMENT:
- They believe that the government has too much power and is a threat to the personal lives and freedoms of its citizens so its fair to assume that they have no trust in the current government.
GOVERNMENT AID TO THE POOR:
- Tea party members oppose "unearned handouts", such as welfare, because they are calling for fewer government services instead of a rise in taxes.
INTERPRETATION OF THE CONSTITUTION:
- The Tea party is very trusting of the constitution, believes that the current government is straying too much from the original laws put into place, and that their constitutional rights are being denied.
VIEWS ABOUT COMPROMISE:
- The tea party members are extremely committed to not compromising and opposed to any form of change, which can be seen by their strong interpretation of the government.

The Republican Party believes that Government should stick to what it has always been. The strictly interpret what the Constitution says, and believe that the government shouldn't be used for helping the poor. They don't trust the government very much, oppose US surveillance, and when it comes to compromise, they're typically not the ones to start it. They love capitalism, and the free market. They don't think the government should be able to tell corporations what to do with their own workers.

The Democratic Party believes that government surveillance is important but many also believes in the right to privacy. They trust the government even less than Republicans do. They support government assistance, a higher minimum wage, and universal health care. They stick to a loose interpretation of the Constitution. They stand by social equality, the belief that abortions are a right and that torture by the US government is inhumane. They think that voting is an American Right and same with equal opportunity.
