When deciding on school’s/post 16 placements we suggest you:

·       Visit any settings that are suitable for your child's age, ability, aptitude and SEN.

·       Read school brochures.

·       Look at school websites to find out their policies, especially their SEND policy and end of key stage results/achievements.

·       Read the latest Ofsted reports on the Ofsted website.

·       Consider how your child would get to and from the school.

Primary School applications open on 1st September 2025 and close on 15th January 2026 (for children starting reception in September 2026).

This work placement training exists across various sectors and can include roles in retail, hospitality, administration, health and social care, customer services, sport, and health and recreation.

Whilst in the work place, all Interns are facilitated by the support of a Job Coach who will train, instruct and help them to develop their employability skills and confidence. A Supported Internship is not just about work, it is about developing and enhancing real skills for a real job. The amount of support provided by a Job Coach is different for everybody. Nevertheless, all Interns generally start with 100% support with the intent for it to fade week-by-week. In turn, until the Intern is working completely independently.

As part of a Supported Internship, Interns will also spend part of their week at an education provider. This could be at a College or Training Provider. It is here that Interns will develop their employability and digital skills, English and mathematics, and work towards relevant qualifications (at an appropriate level).

There are no entry or completion requirements for a Supported Internship, and each learning provider will work with their Interns to develop a personalised programme that meets their needs and provides progression and stretch.

 Preparing for Adulthood

Split into 6 topics, articles are written by young people to support them transitioning into adulthood.

Topics are:

-          Climate Change and the environment

-          Work and study

-          Confidence in relationships

-          Financial education

-          Health and wellbeing

-          Politics citizenship and rights

There is an online session taking place on 14th April 2026 6pm - 6.30pm that will support families to utilise the site, helping structure conversations around topics important for young people and to encourage further exploration and research. You will also learn how young people can contribute to the site, whether that is proposing ideas for new articles, or writing the content themselves!
