Prospero must deliver one more epilogue before the play is over. He describes the loss of his magical powers (“Now my charms are all o’erthrown”) and what he has learned from this experience. Even though his use of magic has been contradicting, Prospero appears to be judicious rather than arbitrary in his use of power. Prospero then makes references his captivity on the island. He wants the audience to forgive him as they would want their crimes forgiven. The only way he can be truly freed is with the applause and approval of the audience. Unlike many of Shakespeare’s plays, The Tempest doesn’t end with extreme bloodshed and loss; this one proved that a happy ending and peaceful justice can restore harmony. This epilogue is Shakespeare’s farewell to the theatre.

After all of this nonsense and wasted time, Prospero declares that they all sail back to their home. This was a quick, decisive end to a story that was dragged along. I was very confused to see how Prospero could be so forgiving and quick to moving on, after all he did to get them here in this moment. The ending of this play feels very rushed...and nobody has died? Weird.

Caliban instantly feels fear throughout his entire body, for he is afraid Prospero will kill him. It's important to note that not too long ago, Caliban was very confident that he was going to kill Prospero and take control of the entire island. Now as he sits in front of Prospero, he returns to his submissive state.

Prospero has truly taken his time getting all of the characters together to finally punish them for their crimes against him. He first speaks to Gonzalo and tells him that he feels sorry for him and that he is a good man. Then he addresses Alonso and Antonio, basically telling them that they are pricks but he forgives them. The two that caused the most damage, are getting a stern talking to. Nothing more
