I generally do believe most police officers are trying to do the right thing but some officers may be abusing their powers for their own benefit or satisfaction. This is a very complex topic because there is evidence of good things police officers have done but the wrongful acts they have committed over shadows the good deeds they have done. I believe they don’t get the credit they deserve when officers do something good but would get blamed immediately if they’ve done a wrongful act. People would go as far as to start protesting, they would start to show resistance, some of them may even sue the police department. The reason I believe in this is because there are many evidence of police officers doing good things for the country but hardly anyone notices it or talks about it. On the other hand, If they’ve done something wrong, everyone would know what has happened.

Here in Boston I never had an encounter with a bad cop. But I see how other marginalized communities have had to encounter bad police officers. Currently nationwide, many people from different races have experienced police brutality. My perception of the police is that different police has a different identity,some police have done things that hurt others, and they have also done things that the police should not do.But I believe that most people's police are good citizens and law-abiding. And protect other citizens from harm.There is a personal opinion that most police officers are brave, because prisoners may have weapons that can hurt others. Under this circumstance, it is very brave to send the police, because they are betting that if the prisoner shoots at him first, then their lives will be lost.
