It’s an opportunity to get to know different cultures, people, languages, lifestyles and how things works in other countries. I’ve always been interested in what kind of music teenagers from different parts of the world listen to, what they do during free time, what they like to talk about and how is the politics in their country. So I went to an exchange program two years ago and the most incredible thing was meeting so many different people from all around the world. Therefore, I have always identified this experience as a milestone that everyone needs to taste. 
Having international friends will give you the chance to learn their expressions, culture, FOOD, which might make you a great cook in the future. 
I had been in a summer school located in Oxford and currently studying in London and can say that, it is the most unbelivable experience to have many friends overseas and keeping communication even in bad circumstances.

Sometimes the people around you (in real life) dont have the same humor or similar hobbies/things you enjoy. That could lead to not a great friendship or even a toxic friendship and thats why i think international friendship is really good.  You could meet friends online, which would be easier for some people because some people can’t socialize in real life and they can be more comfortable talking to people online without facing them directly. But of course it has some negative points like questions like if you will meet them in real life or if they aren’t catfishing you. Another bad thing you might consider before having an international friendship is the trust. Its harder to build trust if you have never met them yet and you have only seen a picture of them. The key point is not to get too attached (i have been there and done that). Sometimes if you have a friend in real life and they have to move away, i think it would also consider an international friendship. I believe that, that friendship os the hardest. You are basically letting go of the person and you have to face with sad days alone without them, less communication and them having new friends. My experience with international friendship is all over the place. I have met a lot of people online and some of them are amazing but we have lost touch or some of them are catfishes, which i hate them for that because why would you lie about your identity? I have also met people in real life but they live in a different country. Most of them are amazing, but again, we lost touch. Sometimes we reconnect again, but its not the same. Some people that ive met in real life, that live in other countries, are so sweet and funny. With them, I try to still keep in touch. But its hard to keep the online friendship because you never know of they are being genuine or not. But I try to think the best about people. Ovaral i strongly believe that international friendship is amazing and everybody should have friends around the world. But of course some people would not agree with me and thats okay :)
