The tripod will keep the camera steady and must not be moved when taking the each photo. The camera must be on aperture priority with ISO at 200 and aperture at f/16. First choose a subject you want to take a picture of. You want to take 5 different exposures of the subject, so do that you take it at 0.0, -0.5, -1.0, +0.5, and +1.0. To change them, there is a (+/-) button. Hold that button while moving the dial to the four different options. Take a photo of the same subject using all 5 different exposures. Don't change the exposure any other way. Changing the exposure this way will effect the lightness of the photo. Do the same thing to all other subjects you are taking pictures of. Then click on "Merge to HDR Prof.." From there click browse. To choose the 5 photos you want by holding command and clicking all 5 photos, then click open. Give photoshop time to arrange all photos together in a layer. When it finishes, edit it however you would like: change the exposure, shadow, gamma, highlights, etc. It is recommended to click on "hide ghosts" so the photo will be clearer. When the photo is good enough for you, click "ok" and you're done.
