         <description><![CDATA[<div>As I may have indicated to you at other times, I think that Saussure is possibly the most difficult theoretical perspective that any of the groups have to deal with. You respond to this very well though, and the presentation took the logical from of an explanation of the basics of Saussure’s ideas followed by a look at two instances of the cultural saturation of particular signifiers (feminine and masculine) before going on to consider Avatar. The analysis of the film makes some good points, although it might have provided some more specific, close analysis of some of the critical semiotic representations of sameness and difference that you rightly observe as being constituent parts of the film. It might have been worth composing a set of binary oppositions that the film constructs in order to reveal the symbolic economy at the heart of the representations of the humans and the Na’vi. You did really well overall though, and the presentation itself was relaxed and informative.<br><br>Huw</div>]]></description>
