Were these motives and causes for exploration harmless?

These motives and causes for exploration did cause harm. Even though these motives had positives to them, the negatives outweighed the benefits. By conquering land, wars and riots can happen between groups you cross. This can cause harm by killing thousands of people that were innocent. By believing in religion and God comes a lot of negatives. The converting of religion and forgetting about your old religion. Denying to convert, can lead to punishment like death. Trading and trade routes can spread diseases along with competition. There is a movement of a lot of people, so a spread of disease can happen. When many cities start trading spices and resources, competition can happen between them. Having much gold and valuable resources, can cause people to pillage and create wars in your city. This can cause a really big destruction. Along with that, Henry the Navigator tried to stop the spread of Muslim kingdoms in Africa which threatened Portugal. This was not fair for the Muslims. Lastly, Christopher Columbus took the natives as slaves. To sum it up, the motives were harm to many people as it killed and hurt many people in different ways.

They were stunned. The great city of Tenochtitlan is built on the salt lake and there are four artificial causeways. The streets have openings, so the water can pass through one canal to another. There were temples and houses for their idols. Amongst the temples, their is a magnificent building surrounded by high walls. Inside are elegant rooms, and corridors. This city was such a nicely built city.

Usually people fear Cortes and his men, but the Aztecs welcomed them into their city. The Aztecs believed and mistaken Cortes to be their god and so they welcomed him with such a kind heart. The Armor reflecting light, caused them to think he was a god. The Aztecs not being able to comprehend what they were seeing, as they have never met the Spanish before. Soon, Cortes feared that the Aztecs will figure out that he was not actually their God, so he took a bold move and took Montezuma (King of Aztecs) hostage. He attempted to convert Montezuma into Christianity and started to tear symbols down from their temple. Aztecs realized that Cortes was not their god, so they started riots and wars until Cortes and his men were drove out from their city.

Cortes killed Panphilo de Narvaez, who led the party, and after Cortes and his men returned back to Tenochtitlan. The Spanish massacred the Aztecs and looted their cities. The Aztecs were unable to do anything against the Spanish, so Montezuma abandoned the Aztecs. The Spanish also bought a disease, the Small Pox with the and spread through the city killing thousands. After 80 days of violence, the Aztecs attempted to save their city, but surrendered. Cortes patted the Aztecs general as a sign of submission and disrespect, and claimed the land for Spain and built what is now today Mexico City from the ruins of Tenochtitlan.

Was the Age of Exploration a time of discovery or invasion? Respond below.

The Age of Exploration was more like a invasion than a discovery. There was a lot of wars and conquering land that was happening. Every motive and cause had a negative behind it. People like Hernan Cortes, Christopher Columbus, and Henry the Navigator were also people that did some bad things. For example, when the Spanish, French, and English reached the New World, they conquered lands and attempted to convert people to Christianity. Also Hernan Cortes was a discoverer that gave harm to people. He destroyed the whole city of Tenochtitlan and he killed thousands of Aztecs. He also robbed valuable resources like gold. Also when him and his crew came to Aztecs, they did not discover, but instead pillaged their whole city. Also the Aztecs thought that he was their god, so he took advantage of that. But in fear of them knowing, he took Montezuma hostage. Along with that, most of these people tried to convert people into Christianity and spread diseases. The diseases killed many people and it was very bad. Columbus also took natives as slaves and Henry tried to stop the spread of Muslim Kingdoms in Africa. As all of the leaders and their groups arrived to the New World. much was not discovered, but they had wars instead. They met other people and took them as enemies instead of helping and discovering. Majority, they conquered land, robbed gold/valuable things, and converted to Christianity. In conclusion, the Age of Exploration should be considered as an invasion as this exploration was more of wars and killing people. No one gained anything, as they all ended in wars.
