Throughout its history, and much more in recent years, the English have taken the podium as far as sound art is concerned. They have produced bands and singers who, thanks to their talent for breaking into the music industry and destroying everything that was thought to be a rule, are considered the greatest musical exponents in modern history.

When we go back to the England of the sixteenth, seventeenth centuries, we find a large number of compositions created to be performed in churches. Although, for these times, there was a conflict between the Catholic and Protestant religions, therefore, the English composers had to move between the accusations they could receive from the representatives of both doctrines.

This was the case of Thomas Tallis, who is considered one of the best English composers that have existed, and whose works, of high secular content, make him an obligatory part of the musical anthologies of the churches of England. One of his greatest skills was knowing how to avoid the ravages of religious problems, which allowed him to create pieces during the Catholic and Protestant reigns.

Who took the leadership of the new generation of musicians after the death of Tallis was William Byrd, his disciple, who is considered by many as the best composer who has given birth to England. But, unlike his teacher, he was not exempt from the religious turbulence, which affected his entire career, although by the time he died, he had accumulated a considerable fortune. Then, during the Baroque era, the music of England was influenced by the incorporation of international sounds, in addition, national styles of different types were also fused. Henry Purcell is one of the most prominent names in this era, this thanks to the incorporation he made in his interpretations not only of French and Italian style, but also by the touches of folk music that embroiled in his songs.
Another that also influenced English music during the time of
George Frideric Handel. His compositions have earned the recognition of being
one of the greatest composers of this era, while his works are still used in
modern times. An example of this is his priest Zadok, who was created for the
coronation of George II, and has been interpreted during each of the following
British coronations. The greatest symbol of English music are the Beatles, this
rock group that emerged in Liverpool, Western music, music that has never been
possible. However, it also emerged from this historical country of this genre
such as: Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Elton John, Queen and The Rolling Stones. Of
course, not everything in the musical world is masculine; Women have also
managed to create successful careers and generate changes in the industry. To
demonstrate this we have the Spice Girls, who have obtained the title of the
female group with the most copies sold. In addition, they were creators of a
worldwide phenomenon, similar to the Beatles, which impelled women under the
slogan of feminine power, thus becoming icons of pop culture of the 90s.
Another theme of the genres that have been born in the British streets is the
punk and all the social life movement that takes place in the previous
generations with their protest and rebellion, their particular way of dressing
and combing, all in order to transgress any type of The aesthetic elaboration
conceived before the appearance of this type of music. Along with this genre
also emerged Heavy Metal, which is based on blues rock, psychedelic rock and
hard rock, along with the use of strong guitars and dense sounds. Among its
best known representatives are Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Black Sabbath and
Wishbone Ash.
