Yes, I have several districts that utilize PLC time to look at the standards and the Achieve the Core documents to attend to focus. Vertically, these districts work through coherence.

I am working with some juniors who still don’t understand unit fractions and that a smaller denominator means larger pieces of the same whole for example. All levels have representation that will meet with Pleasant Valley Schools to discuss their 5 year Math Best Practices implementation plan. We are really digging into deconstructing the standards and really looking at what each standard means K-12. From there, teachers are writing focused learning targets. As far as coherence, we have been having one up one down meetings and are looking at essential standards and how they build over time. I feel like rigor is a place we can keep working.
