No education is needed if apprenticed, but there are many courses in college that can assist you in getting your blocks to become a certified plumber. If you choose to not take college you will need to work the required amount of hours to write your tests. There is three tests that lead to getting your Red Seal. The total number of hours after your four-year apprenticeship program to get a Red Seal is 7,200.

Many colleges offer plumbing courses. Out of all of them, I would choose Holland College because it offers a great introduction to plumbing starting at $6,918 Canadian. It is also local and close to my home, and many of my friends will attend it. In this course, you will learn how to properly install hot and cold plumbing systems and waste disposal systems for residential and commercial use.

Since my first time touching plumbing, I knew I could be good at it. Finishing and understanding plumbing systems in a few hours or less, I believed I would be cut out for this type of work. Throughout this course, I also learned more about the trade, and the more I learned, the more I wanted to pursue this work.
