Above the wide valley of the Poprad River in northeastern Slovakia, in the district of Stará Ľubovňa, rises a hill bearing the ruins of Plaveč Castle from the 13th century. The castle was built to defend the road to Poland, near the ford over the Poprad River, around 1294.

The name of Plaveč Castle is probably derived from the tribe of Plavec (Polovcs), which the Hungarian kings settled in the border area in the 11th-12th centuries for the purpose of defending the borders. Several owners gradually rebuilt the castle. In the 18th century, the castle lost its military significance. The last inhabitants of the castle were the Paloszays in the 19th century. However, due to disturbed statics of the castle, they moved to the mansion near Plavča.

Corfu is one of the most beautiful islands of Ionian Sea. It is located at the entrance to the Adriatic Sea, near the Continental Coasts. The inhabitants of the island were known as Phaeacians. The island includes many impressive sights, like the Princess Sisi's palace from Austria. This austrian princess built her palace there, because she loved Greece especially its islands. In the first photo we can see the panoramic view of the island. In the background of the third photo we see the Old Fortress of the city and the traditional mansions. Finally, in the last photo there is the central narrow street with all the tourist shops.

Meteora

Meteora is one of the most spectacular and special geological monuments not only in Greece but also globally. It is famous for its peculiarity and beauty and it's located in Trikala. What attracts the visitor of Meteora is absolutely the huge dark rocks which emerge from the plain above the town of Kalambaka. Literally, some of their peaks surpass the altitude of 400 metres above the plain. The unique phenomenon of Meteora is the result of geological changes and eruptions in the surface of earth million of years ago. According to the wide scientific research, in Meteora there are the banks of a river which ended up in the modern area of Thessaly covered with sea. In Meteora, there are 30 abbeys in total but only 6 of them are open today.

Sights of Trikala

Trikala is a city in western Thessaly. The city is crossed by the river Litheos, which is a tributary of Pinios. Also, Trikala is a very beautiful destination for winter holidays.
According to Strabona it was said that Asclepius, the god of medicine, was born near Litheo.
Since the Litheos flows through Trikala, its banks are connected by ten bridges, half of which are for pedestrians. The central bridge, which is arched and metal, was built in France in 1886 by French engineers (reconstructed in 1996 and 2015) and connects Asklipiou Street (commercial street) with the central square of Heroes of the Polytechnic.
