Hallo everybody, my name is Julia and I am from Flensburg, Germany.
My name is a girl's name with Latin origins and was once an imperial Roman name given to children who were born in the house of J.Caesar.
When I asked my parents why they named me Julia, they told me that it sounded really pretty to them.
In our family there is not a real naming tradition but anyway I named two of my kids after their grandparents because I liked the names. I think as long as the names fit, it is a beautiful tradition.

My last name: Clerx, is coming from the Latin word 'clericus'. A clergyman who has received minor orders. During the middle ages these people ('Klerk') were the only one who could write and read.

Hello everyone, I’m Sjoerd Krook.
My name originates from the Frisian language, which is spoken in one of the northern provinces of the Netherlands.
In Dutch it means “ behoeder van de zege” which translates to “guardian of the victory”
It derives from the Germanic name Sieuwerd, which consists of the two words Sig and Ward. Meaning victory and guardian of peace.

The name Sjoerd is commonly used as a name for boys. It is sometimes used as a name for girls. In that case they add “tje” behind Sjoerd so it becomes Sjoerdtje.
My parents were the first in the family to break the tradition, of naming your new born child after a family member.

My name is Sheila. It is originally an Irish name derived from Cecilia. I was born in the Netherlands but I have Indonesian roots. I am not named after anyone in my family. My parents just thought it was a beautiful name. Both in the Netherlands and in Indonesia it was a tradition to hear your child from your parents, uncle or aunt. We named our daughter Myrah as a middle name, after my late favorite aunt.
