In my school we are planning a collaborative and cross-curricular activity on how to make Christmas celebrations greener.
That is reducing food waste, promoting re-use of toys, Christmas decorations... or even creating new ones from recycled materials!
We will also set up a Christmas market in order to donate our creations or give out old toys to charity.
I think this kind of actions raise students' awareness of climate change.

Here's an example of our work for the "Litter@sea" eTwinning project. It involved many classes, different grades and school subjects.
We wanted to see our questions answered, so we invited experts (both on-site and online) to our classroom, as well as other school colleagues from different subjects, such as Physics, Chemistry, Arts and History, to name just a few, to 'lend' us their expertise.
We also got involved with a local environmental group and went on a cleanup campaign on the beach.
Then, the virtual lesson that I created to raise awareness to these issues started getting more and more attention, along with some local institutions and schools in our area.

It is essencial that students understand the importance of resource management. Food is one of the most important resources to society and cooking can involve a lot of waste.

One activity that can be organized is asking student to bring an empty reusable bag or sealed container. Ask students to place all the waste they dispose in these containers e.g. chocolate wrappers, disposable water bottles, pieces of paper, fruit skin etc. At the end of the day learners can do a self-evaluation of how one could had used less resources to ensure not to make excess use of resources for nothing. At the same time learners would learn on how much waste they can normally dispose in one day. Having said this, they would also consider to separate the waste accordingly at the end of the day.

I would organise a cleaning campaign for the whole school. Each group would be assigned with a different part of the town and they would collect the trash. He would organize a campaign to clean up a wooded area called El Forestal. We do it every year on a Sunday morning and we bring together parents, students, neighbors, anyone who wants to. Each group would be assigned a different part and would pick up the trash. In this way, students contribute to the well-being of the community where they live. They also see in real life how little it takes to make an impact.
Then we publish it on the website of the center, on social networks and sometimes on the website of the city council.

Numerous environmental actions are already taking place in my school. I would like to connect them into a complete school project.
At the beginning of the year, I would divide the assignments for individual classes so that the activities take place throughout the school year. Eg: research on types of plastics, sorting household waste, competition in making the most creative classroom trash can, making toys from recycled materials, arranging a school flower garden, making a vertical garden in the classroom, arranging terrariums on the theme of tropical forest (workshop for parents), planting trees in the school yard, monitoring of phenological changes in the school yard according to the protocols of the GLOBE program, visit to the solar power plant, making a model of a windmill, making a solar oven, demonstration of the greenhouse effect, cleaning the environment. Students present their activities at a science fair that would be held on Environmental Day.

I’d love to organise a project week (or two) focusing on climate change. The students would not attend regular classes but individual projects in connection with climate change. These could vary from general information on CO₂ levels, rising oceans, global footprint, Earth hour, … to experiments in the chemistry lab, building insect hotels as well as new containers for trees that are subsequently planted in the schoolyard, preparing posters and flyers on how to protect the earth (from recycling to saving energy, …) and presenting everything to the parents on the last day of the project.

There are four professions in my school. These are food technologies, child development, agriculture and health services. Different dimensions of climate change can be addressed by realizing projects in which each student will actively participate.
Health area; Organizes meetings about the effects of climate change on health at school.
The food field draws attention to greenhouse gas reduction with the "Eat in season activity".
Agricultural area: It draws attention to organic agriculture. It organizes activities that try to explain the harm of pesticide use on the environment.
Child development: Based on the principle of "environmental education starts at a young age", it conducts workshops on recycling. (There is a practice kindergarten in our school. Our students have the opportunity to practice these workshops one-on-one.)

Every year on the eve of Earth Day in our school we organize activities for students from 1st to 4th grade related to ecology. In collaboration with the local community, the students arranged the school environment. They helped carry branches and pluck weeds. They planted three trees and seedlings of various flowers in the garden around the school.
This year, activities will be focused on the construction of a small composting plant in which they will dispose of cut grass, cut olive branches and ornamental shrubs. In addition to composting, we will try to arrange several flower beds in which we will plant seasonal vegetables.

Our School has a project that helps different solidarity institutions: students and families collect the maximum number of bottle tops possible. When there is a huge number of them, they are sent to recycling companies and the money raised from recycling is then sent to help these institutions or is used to buy medical equipment.

Among other small activities, my school has already done "Plogging". The first time, it was done in our hometown on a day after a pilgrimage, which always brings thousands of people and therefore a great amount of garbage. So, students and some teachers left school and while walking they collected all the garbage they could. Another interesting thing was the fact that we could involve not only teachers from different subjects, but also the civil local authorities and some employees from McDonalds, which gave us the chance to discuss with students the role of the whole community in problem-solving projects. This project allowed each subject involved (Biology, English, Physical Education and Physics and Chemistry) to work on diverse perspectives of the problem/project and enrich it.

I teach English in a high school. And I started a zero waste activity in one of my classes. We first learnt about waste and ways to reduce it. And now we have a chart on the wall where we mark how much of what type of waste we produce. And trying to reduce waste production by separating plastic for example. The other teachers who teach the same class saw that and they already started doing some more activities, or assign students on the issue. And some teachers started collecting plastic bottle caps in other classes too. So I believe when you initiate something beneficial for all, it has a great impact on everybody in school environment and it spreads eventually. Projects are always a good way for this.

I have already done PBL activities about climate change in my English class and I would definitely use my experience to further develop the idea of what my students could do in their own houses to protect the environment. Students would choose a strategy or a problem and suggest a solution to it. It would be ideal to use this as a basis for an eTwinning project where students from different countries could share their ideas of reducing waste, eating less meat or spending less energy. As a final product, the students could invent a method, a technique or even a machine or an app that could help them with the issue they have chosen. The students could collect points for their activities and ideas, something like experience points in games, which would motivate them even more. This activity would include research and developing critical thinking skills, as well as creativity. This would be an opportunity for teachers of different subjects to join in at the school level or even internationally, on eTwinning.

We are a polyvalent school with various occupations and our students are educated and dispose of various types of waste. School activities would include, for example, elaborating monitoring tools to measure energy consumption, creating artwork or handcrafts from waste material, for example activities of plogging, art beach, litter art and tik toks festival, on The International Day of the Black Sea, in oder to draw students' and community's attention to the climate crisis, developing initiatives for solar panels, constructing school gardens and eco-walls, reusing sewage water, using alternative modes of transportation to school, planting of local species and setting up vegetarian days at the school canteen. We are having in our school a campaign for recycling and reusing plastic and paper, used oil and batteries. We have actions every year on the Earth Hour as well. We also try to make the Earth Day every day.

The pilot shows that the whole-institution approach to ESD has a strong positive impact on students’ attitudes, behaviours and actions towards sustainable development and lifestyles, as well as on how they perceive their school and the role they play in their community. Generally, students would change their attitude and thinking towards climate change – identifying it as a global issue, requiring compounded local actions – and strengthen their environmental conscience. Moreover, I would pledge for participation in the pilot project supported recent national initiatives for the integration of ESD into national curricula.

Building upon the positive experience of the teachers and students in the participating project, the implementation of a whole-school approach to climate change will be expanded to the entire community.

My project is designed for students of "biennio" in an upper secondary school, tutored by the elder ones. The starting point might be a video watching lesson-The story of the stuff- to involve younger students on the negative aspects of consumerism. Then the elder could hand out a questionaire concerning students' habits towards daily stuff. Subsequently students should reflect on the 3 R's rule and create a flyer and a poster for their schoolmates. This might lead to a sort of campaign to spread the ideas acquired. Working collaboratively elder and youger students could organise school meetings to spread the knowledge and use Google form questionaires to get more information not only by students but by their families too. The final step could be the organization of a small flea market in the school yard, opened to families and people living in the school area to implement the "REUSE" rule and raise awareness on the vital importance of circular economy.

Our school is immersed in nature, like olive groves and vineyards. This should help students interact with the environment in a sustainable way. Nonetheless it is still essential to foster the awareness of how simple, everyday practices can protect or destroy the precious area where we live and which presumably gives us food, air and water.
In the school we also have a course in which students are engaged in learning about microbiology, and biotechnology in order to apply these sciences in finding new materials, and or ways to recycle, dispose, reuse plastics and synthetic polymers.
Anyway, a practical and effective activity would be to build a plastic totem in a visible area of the school, made up of every type of non recyclable material discarded by school staff and students, just to have a visible impact on how much plastic and non organic material we unconsciously use and show it also in open days like the one in cooperation with FAI ( National Trust with the aim of promoting and enhancing Italy's historical, artistic and landscape heritage) or in Legambiente "Puliamo il mondo". Students can then elaborate projects in the chemistry lab to reuse or recycle all these material and disseminate the results during Earth day ( in the school website) or in other day which school opens to the territory, like in the initiative NATURALITAS:http://www.agrariopescia.edu.it/convegno-a-naturalitas/.

In my shool we promoted, through the forest Clube, a Photography contest whose central theme is “Sustainable city”

The main objectives are:

· To make the school community aware of the importance of achieving sustainability through safe urban spaces, at a reasonable cost, with the use of renewable energies.

I celebrate Eart Hour every year, so last year I celebrated it with our project partners in eTwinning project so we read books in candle light, had plays, wrote letters using torches. My partners and their students didn't know about it at all, but now they celebrate it too.

Also, our school is Eco school so every eco day is celebrated among all the teachers. Our classes collect paper through the year and then the recycling company comes and declares winners so it's always a competition of who will be the best.

At my school we mark the Earth day every year and our students are invited to take part in eco-group activities. Students control waste management and leave notices all over school to remind everyone to turn on the lights and water taps after using. We organize toy exchange in December to reduce need for buying new. We make our Christmas decorations to last at least couple of years and they are usually made with environment friendly materials.

On the school day we promoted the "Plant a Tree" campaign.
The land around the school is big, but the campaign was very popular and there were more interested students than trees to plant. Next year we have to get more trees and consider involving the local authorities to plant trees outside the school as well.

I could ask them to create awareness campaigns with Canva on how we can make our places cleaner,what we can do to save animals...
They could also create posters that would ask: have you switched off your computer? have you switched off the light?Is the classroom clean?... A poster could be pinned in each classroom.

Our school is a sustainable school. In each class there is a eco representative.They held meeting every month and decide on actions to lead during the year. We also have an Etwinning project on this topic and I think it’s a good way to share with other students,teachers,staff and parents.

Shrinking Our Footprints
Grades 3-6, Science: Math
In this project, students use measurement, data, and fraction concepts to develop, implement, and monitor an action plan for reducing their family’s impact on the environment. Each student team focuses on one resource: water, garbage, food waste, electricity, or car gas use. Teams research information, such as the amount of water per minute of shower or the number of miles per gallon used by a family car, and then they conduct home inventories of their family’s use of these resources for 1 week (e.g., timing the length of showers, the weight and volume of garbage, or the number of watt hours used by key household devices). Students graph their individual family data and collective team data on line plots. After measuring their families’ current use of resources, students set goals for reducing resource use by a given fraction and identify strategies to help their families achieve these goals (e.g., “We will reduce our use of water by one-quarter through taking shorter showers and making sure the dishwasher is full before running it.”) Students communicate these strategies and goals to their families in the form of an informative/explanatory letter and then measure and graph changes in their families’ resource use as they implement their action plans. As an alternative, if there are barriers to measuring data about resource use at home, students might consider measuring the use of resources in the classroom or across the school.

Our school is Eco school , which means we already have a number of activities, compulsory for eco schools. But we could further expand our efforts by introducing a project week, where every lesson in every subject would be part of a climate crisis topic, and most of it would be project oriented learning, inquiry learning etc

Schools should be pioneers in preventing climate change. For this, teachers, students, parents and administrators should all work together. Days such as Earth Day can be organized within the scope of the school, and events can be organized to involve parents or people in the school district. Or, teachers can treat it as a topic in their own lessons. For example, a teacher in our school worked with parents. As a result of the electricity savings made by the students, the parents gave the difference between the previous month's electricity bills to the students as pocket money.

As our school is located in the Alps, it could be interesting for students to identify some actions, related to the territory, to improve the environment and the landscape (e.g. cleaning the wood, selling km 0 products as honey, alpine cheese and herbs, illustrating different ways to produce energy...) and to create a presentation to show to the local community. My school has Eco School certificate which means that we have numerous environmental activities in school every year. We always have specific project days based on the chosen topic, so climate crisis could be one of them. Project days include researching the topic in the classroom and outside of it, for example students can research about waste management in the classroom and then measure how much waste they and their families produce, or how much waste they produce during school hours, finding solutions for reducing waste and presenting everything to other students and public on project days.

The school I worked in participated in the project that involved composting. Through the part of the project involving lectures and peer-to-peer workshops, students from our and neighbouring schools are informed about the scale of climate crisis and many aspects thereof. The students are also involved in a hands-on activity of making composting boxes out of used pallets, gathering green and brown material for the compost, making all necessary controls of the process (measuring temperature and moisture), and finally they arrange flower beds with the produced compost and decide what to plant in there (bee friendly plants).

Our project is about protected sites.We raise the awareness about natural parks and other protected places of the students and parents.We are still working on it.
Our next step is a project includes the whole school and our city. Saving the water by changing the habits is the main aim of our project. First we search about the water usage habits, then we campaign about eco-habits with concrete ideas.
