It is a serious mental disorder with tons of stigma behind it. It cannot be detected as something certain with a brain scan. This means that psychologists often have to make rough choices to determine if someone actually has D.I.D. 
Another thing that is bad about this disorder is that people will often use it as an excuse. There have been some people who will murder others for their own pleasure and claim that they have no recognition of it, stating that they have D.I.D.
