I am of old and young, of the foolish as much as the wise.
Hog Butcher for the World, Tool Maker, Stacker of Wheat
A man and a woman are one.
You may write me down in history with your bitter, twisted lies.

The blackbird whirled in the autumn winds.
They tell me you are wicked and I believe them, for I have seen your painted women.
I celebrate myself, and sing myself,
But still, like dust, I’ll rise.

The shoemaker singing as he sits on his bench,
The laugh of a man with a broken tooth.
At the sight of blackbirds flying in a green light,
Does my sassiness upset you?

Each belongs here different, yet bound,
In silence, in labor, in rising again.

Really strong spliced poem here! I love that combo of dust next to the shoemaker image followed by a broken tooth. The way you bring in Angelou's question is very strong. What idea do you see this splice exploring?

I really liked reading this poem! Your title is what initially caught my attention. As I began to read the post I noticed how well you wove in the different readings. Especially when you combined Whitman's openness and Sandburg's city imagery. I also noticed that our posts were similar where we both said we will rise like dust!

Hey, I really enjoyed reading your spliced poem. I really like how you put them all together to make it sound like the poem was actually written like that. I love the different tones in the poem, and we both started with the same beginning line in our poem.
