Dear Maya, Laura and Danny,
This is absolutely one of my favorite courses at HGSE. It is also my earliest class ever but every Thursday morning I wake up with excitement because of this warm, welcoming community we have built together :) Like Mariam, I will also miss Maya's calming and soothing voice in the mindfulness exercises each week. Imagine how it swept away my sleepiness each Thursday morning at 6 a.m.! This is so helpful to calm us down, especially in an online setting.

It has been a challenging year for all of us, but my experience at HGSE is still full of love, care, passion and authenticity. Thank you so much for your dedication and unconditional support throughout the semester. I really appreciate those special exercises for consolidation and self-assessments. I've learnt a lot from you all. The theories and insights on college and career development will not only inform my practice and my venture, but also it gives me a unique opportunity to reflect on my own personal journey of the past and the future.

Laura and Danny, thank you for organizing these fun and helpful workshops every week! You are really wonderful TFs!! Special thanks for Laura on my project. Your feedback has been super helpful!

Thank you all for creating such a collaborative and open space. I enjoyed the conversations that were facilitated in the course, and appreciated the space to ask questions! It was an amazing experience to be in such an active community of learners, and I think that we all learned some really valuable skills.

Thank you all for actively recognizing how difficult this year has been, and for honoring our requests for extra time. It's such an amazing feeling to know that you can reach out in a time of stress and feel heard and trusted.

I was so nervous to take my first ever graduate class. I felt like I was going to be a complete failure and contemplated even indulging my passion and fascination with education. But actually, it was Maya’s preview video that changed all that for me. I will never forget you calming all my anxieties and telling us that all that scary stuff wasn’t important- all that was important is that your name is Maya, your pronouns are she/her/hers and you were here to help us. I quickly fell in love the class and have never felt more accepted and supported in my life. I genuinely looked forward to class every week and it was the highlight of my Wednesday (even though Wednesdays were really tough for me this semester). Not only have I learned so much from Maya, Laura, and Danny, but I was grown as a person in this class. I had never been comfortable enough to discuss my mental health struggles with other professors, but hearing Maya discuss similar issues made me feel as if I could. And that was so incredibly opening for me. I know this semester is ending, but I promise that you will be seeing more of me! Thank you ❤️

This class was an amazing experience. It exceeded my expectations and I am grateful to the teaching team for creating a wonderful and engaging environment. I am going to miss Maya's soothing voice when doing the breathing exercises! Those were much needed on a Wednesday evening. Laura and Danny have been very helpful and supportive. This course has been one of my favorites at HGSE not only because of the rich and important content, but because of the warm and welcoming space you created every week for us. It is humbling to know that you all cared about how we came into the learning space and made room for our differences.

The content of the course has been so eye opening and so incredibly relatable. I appreciate so much that you are teaching this course and helping others understand the importance of college and career development, and how we as educators can help support students in this cause.

Thank you for always creating a fun and interactive class and section where we could be ourselves and participate in ways that were comfortable to us.

Thank you so much for this course! This was hands-down one of my favorite courses during my time at HGSE.

The way the course was taught was thoughtful, personal, and meaningful. As an instructor, there were many effective teaching strategies that I learned (I even used the lava game during a teaching demonstration!). Additionally, I appreciate the relevance of the course assignments and the flexibility that we had in our research.

Thank you for a fantastic semester full of deep thought, good conversations, and new ideas. Thank you all for this class, which has been one of my favorites at HGSE. I looked forward to coming into class and workshop every Wednesday and to recentering with Maya's weekly meditations. This class has also offered some of the most thought-provoking discussions, in both full-class and breakout sessions, that I've had the chance to participate in this year, and I've learned so much from how this class has been designed to generate conversation. Thank you all for the kindness and compassion you fostered in this class, both for us as well as for the students we wish to work for. Thank you all for being supportive, understanding, and inspiring! It's has been a wonderful semester to learn from you all! This class is 6am to me on Thursday, I cannot believe that what's the intrinsic motivation for me to wake up this early to make this class! I guess... it is all because of the inspiring content and the lovely community that you all created for us! Thank you so much for opening an extra section, for always being supportive, and for leading us in this 4 months journey.
I really enjoy the flip-class setting! Also appreciate for building such a lovely community with folks coming from diverse background!
It's been such a pleasure to be in H341 and explore all the theories as well as beautiful works done by everyone in this class!

As someone who hopes to move from research side to practice side into higher ed, this course built a solid theoretical foundation as well as hands-on practice opportunities that are valuable to my future work. I can't imagine three better guides and humans to lead our journey through developmental theories and their application this semester than the three of you. Thank you for going above and beyond to support our learning and course experience. Your knowledge, commitment to students, and passion for this topic was so inspiring. You literally went above and beyond at every turn. I'll add my used to think/now think for my closing ... I used to think that interventions need to be so much more technically practical to effectively serve highly vulnerable youth. Now I think they also need to be so much more relevant and meaningful to effectively serve these youth, support whole communities, and begin reducing systemic disparities. Thank you for making this learning possible.

This class should be required for all HGSE students. We spend so much time talking about curriculum, leadership, technology in siloes without understanding the real impact on students and their emotions. This class gives voice to students in a whole new way, more closer and authentic to how young people truly experience school. Thank you for supporting me.
