1. Size: These little eggs are just about ping-pong ball size -- which is about 40 mm 2. Shape: They look like ping-pong balls; the little babies grow inside of them (curled up to fit) 3. Color: White shell ~ they have a soft, papery and/or leathery texture to them 4. Habitat: Sea turtle eggs go through a process call INCUBATION! Their initial habitat is their nest. FUN FACT! Temperatures warmer than 80-85 degrees Fahrenheit in the nest produce more females and temperatures colder than that produce more male turtles 5. Food: Their food is the yolk in their individual egg 6. Obstacles: They have a lot of obstacles to face ~ being eaten, moved, destroyed or incubated improperly (nest too cold or way too hot); humans could move, eat or crush the eggs while they are incubating, which would kill the embryos 7. Adaptations: These guys do not really have any adaptations, except that their mother buries them in the nest that is hopefully out of harms way

1. Size: These mini leatherbacks are about 2-4 inches long 2. Shape: They have a rounded, triangle-like shaped shell, small pectoral fins, small hind legs and a small head 3. Color: Their shells are a dark grey-black, with small white (or yellowish) spots that are scattered around its body; the shell feels leathery/rubbery 4. Habitat: These hatchlings like warm waters, closer to shallow waters at first, then move towards open ocean (like the adult leatherbacks) 5. Food: The rest of it’s yolk in the nest, mollusks, crustaceans, seaweed and fish eggs 6. Obstacles: Hatchlings have a lot of obstacles to face: being eaten, crushed, ingesting plastics/harmful materials or getting stuck on the shore; humans could touch/move them while they are on their journey to the ocean, so they might get stuck and not be able to make it to the ocean to survive - humans also could disorient the babies by having a firing or any lights on shore when they make their journey to the ocean (they are attracted to the light by the horizon, so if any other light that is in the way, they thinks its the ocean when it is not) 7. Adaptations: They have a small tooth (called a caruncle) that helps them break out of their egg shell and their nest and they also have a dark colored shell and a light underbelly that works as camouflage once they are in the water.

1. Size: These guys can get huge. They can range from 4-7 feet long and range from 500-2000 pounds 2. Shape: These turtles have a rounded triangle-like shaped shell, large pectoral fins, hind legs and a large head 3. Color: Leatherbacks are dark grey-black, with small white (or yellowish) spots that are scattered around its body; the texture of the shell feels leathery/rubbery 4. Habitat: The adults like warm, temperate waters and open ocean. If they can’t find food easily, they will migrate to where their food is located. They can live in colder water because of their size, but they generally stay in warmer waters 5. Food: These guys mainly eat jellyfish; but they also eat sea urchins, squid, crustaceans, tunicates, fish, blue-green algae and floating seaweed 6. Obstacles: Adults face being eaten, (the females) getting stuck on the beach after laying eggs or getting caught in nets; humans could be fishing and catch one accidentally in their nets (which could kill them) 7. Adaptations: Their flippers have evolved to be long and paddle-like for strong swimming. They have a light underbelly and a dark shell that helps them be camouflaged (dark shell = dark ocean floor, light underbelly = light surface of water). They are able to be on land or in the water (they have lungs), they have a great sense of direction/they are good navigators (go back to the beach where they were born)
