         <title>He was born in 1772 and his father goes by the name of Daniel Rutherford. Daniel Rutherford did not name it nitrogen, someone named Jean- Antoine Chaptal. Chaptal named nitrogen after a mineral (Niter) when he found out it contained gas and Niter is also called Saltpeter or potassium nitrate.</title>
