These migrants were forced by financial hardship, war, and struggling economies to leave their homes. They now live in a place which does not speak their language, does not share their cultural traditions, and does not have their food.

Given the solitary nature of caregiving in Japan, they are often alone while caring for up to 24 seniors. Coupled with the stressful work environment, abusive clients, and exploitative employers, they are physically, emotionally, and socially isolated.

This is where Tsunagaru Space comes in. Japanese for connection, Tsunagaru Space aims to allow these migrant workers to celebrate their heritage and culture by organizing a space for them to congregate, cook, and do activities together.

We aim to launch Tsunagaru Space in November, December, and January — when migrant workers feel the most isolated. Every weekend, we host small gatherings for them to meet people that speak their language, that share their cultural traditions, and enjoy the same food.

By working with local non-profit organizations, we rent venues for gatherings, equipment for cooking, and facilitators for events. Rent for 10 weekends cost only $360 with the largest cost item being event staffing at $2,100, and the remainder going to materials for activities and outreach.

We hope to expand this pilot by integrating these monocultural gatherings into a multicultural hub through non-profit organizations that regularly plan large cross-cultural parties. We are also looking into replicating this model in Asian states with booming migrant populations such as Thailand.

Project Living Archives empowers indigenous youth through digital storytelling, equipping them with content creation and social media management skills. 

Furthermore, indigenous youth are increasingly assimilating and identify with Khmer culture and language, distancing themselves from their ancestral roots. This shift poses a threat to the survival of unique cultural and linguistic practices and undermines the effective implementation of governmental cultural protection policies.

Through a 2 weeks workshop series on content creation, video production and social media management, we empower indigenous communities to tell their stories in a world where they are unknown. We aim to build lasting digital bridges between forgotten traditions and a rapidly globalising world, increasing awareness about indigenous societies in Cambodia through the creation of a self-sustaining ecosystem of indigenous storytellers.

This project proposes a pilot solution that integrates wearable health monitoring devices with AI-driven analytics to safeguard the health and wellbeing of elderly individuals living alone. The system collects real-time physiological data (heart rate, blood pressure, blood oxygen saturation, temperature) alongside movement patterns to detect potential health anomalies promptly. Data are securely processed and shared—where appropriate—with medical and community organizations to enable timely intervention while ensuring strict compliance with Japan’s Personal Information Protection Act (APPI). Additionally, anonymized data will inform regional health trends to optimize community health resource allocation.

Through this initiative, we aim to ensure independent living conditions, reduce emergency response times, and foster closer integration between healthcare, community services, and vulnerable elderly populations. The project will deliver a functional pilot system involving 50 elderly participants and produce actionable insights for future expansion across aging societies in Asia.

Our mission is to combat this trend by encouraging sustainable choices and giving old phone cases a new life. These donated cases will be revitalized in our workshops, where talented artists with disabilities will creatively paint and transform them into stylish, new phone cases.

To address this, the project introduces a 6-month cross-age peer tutoring program, where high school students from Boripat Suksa volunteer to tutor younger students at Ban Tatha Fang. Based on research showing that this approach can boost reading skills by 0.29 standard deviations (Chang et al., 2025), the program aims to strengthen literacy while building closer educational ties within the local community.

For Luk Learn project, we also make a pop-up book with four features: our inspirations to learn English, phonics, offline audio, and reflection. The culture of Karen tribe is combined with our book in order for the students to be proud of their culture.

Our tote bags are made from recycled plastic bags, donated in local universities in Ho Chi Minh city, into strips. We then contact organisations related to the disabled in the city to provide education and curate the tote bags to be redistributed to the public at a mere price of 4-8SGD! Not only that, we aim to also contact NGOs related to DEI and sustainability to further elevate our project through our workshops!

MANGROOVEMENT is a platform that addresses the alarming loss of Indonesia’s mangrove forests. Starting at Lombok, where our motivation stem from. Our main aim is to connect donors with local NGOs working on mangrove restoration, particularly those that are underrepresented and community-driven.

That is where Project Noor steps in. Noor means light or brightness. Just as light reveals what was once hidden, our project shines a light on overlooked schemes and untapped opportunities for orphaned youths. By bridging the gap between these youths and the support systems meant for them, we illuminate a path forward.

Our approach, ‘From Survival to Self-Reliance,’ aims to make them more employable with vocational training or help them pursue higher education in order to live a life with dignity and break the vicious cycle of poverty. We will roll out the pilot program in three phases:

1. In phase 1, we will compile, publish and distribute a two-track guidebook that addresses the ABCs of applying for (1) vocational jobs (like call centres, police constables, etc.) or (2) entering higher education, by tapping on governmental schemes and scholarships. 

2. In phase 2, we will conduct interactive workshops that help children upskill, map career paths based on their interests, and engage with mentors who’ve walked the same path from underprivileged backgrounds—serving as living proof of what’s possible.

3. In phase 3, we will hand over this collaborative model to NGOs that work in educational and vocational sectors, who can continue partnering with government orphanages. Even when our work is done, we leave behind a legacy — one that is easy to replicate, grow, and sustain.

This isn’t just about sharing information.

It’s about restoring belief—that ambition is valid, even for those born without privilege.

Yo! We are from Team HH. Our project is titled Echoes of Heritage: Treasures of Hoi An.

Now, try closing your eyes and picture this: a city crowned as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, its charm rooted in ancient houses that whisper stories of the past. Now open your eyes and imagine them gone & flattened. That is the harsh reality we are facing today. Over 30 to 40% of these heritage houses have already been demolished, and many more are on the verge of disappearing. In Vietnam alone, over 60% of such houses have been destroyed in recent decades.

Something has to be done. Why? Because wealthy landowners find it easier to sell to developers chasing tourist dollars. With corruption and red tape slowing down preservation grants, it's no surprise that many choose profit over protection. For those of you living in other countries, this might be something you see happening at home too.

But instead of blaming, we are building.

Literally.

Our solution is to create heritage-themed blind boxes that are fun, collectible, and meaningful. Each box contains a 3D wooden puzzle of a traditional Vietnamese house made from sustainable materials, a story card featuring real local stories, and a unique character. There are four boxes in the full set, and when all are collected, they come together to form a miniature Hoi An street, rich in Vietnamese identity and cultural memory.

Blind boxes are especially popular right now. The market value of blind boxes in Vietnam is estimated at around USD 6 million in 2024. Through this project, we aim to connect young people to their roots and inspire them to appreciate the struggles and spirit of their ancestors, piece by piece, just like how these houses were originally built.

We will bring these blind boxes to students in local schools, where learning meets play. Through pop-up booths, games, and storytelling sessions, we will plant seeds of curiosity, pride, and cultural awareness. Perhaps one of these students might be the child of a property owner who, inspired by the story, tells their parent not to sell that old heritage home.

This is not just a toy or a usual figurine to create awareness. It is a meaningful movement. It represents a future where culture lives on, not locked away in museums, but held in the hands and hearts of the next generation. We are also exploring collaborations with larger brands to ensure that this becomes a financially sustainable initiative.

We are willing to change our concept allong the way, follow the current trend and to instill the idea of building in our education framework and awareness campaigns.

1. A Generational Cliff: Aging Artisans, No Successors

• Shu embroidery masters are predominantly women facing retirement without successors. Very few young people take up these crafts due to limited income potential.

2. Counterfeiting and Erosion of Trust

• According to the OECD (2024), the trade in counterfeit goods was worth over USD 2.8 trillion in 2022. This erosion of authenticity diminishes the economic viability of Shu embroidery and undermines consumer trust.

3. Digital and Global Invisibility

• Despite a global handicrafts market valued at over USD 752 billion (Grand View Research, 2023), Shu embroidery remains largely absent from the digital and global craft economy.Artisans lack platforms, digital infrastructure, and e-commerce literacy to reach new markets.

Aim

Safeguard Shu embroidery, train a new generation of artisans, authenticate and elevate Shu embroidery, document and digitally preserve knowledge for long-term cultural transmission. The idea is to enable them to solve these problems themselves rather than solving these for them.

Solutions

Creation of online and offline platforms to preserve Shu embroidery and address the rapid decline in master artisans. 

• Digitally document and elevate Shu embroidery to safeguard and make it accessible through an Online Platform (living archive, cultural storytelling, global reach).

• Support training and knowledge continuity through a Community Hub that develops digital skills, authenticity certification, and craft quality.

Imagine growing up in the Philippines but never really feeling the country’s fight for freedom. For most students today, history is reduced to a few dry pages in a textbook. It feels distant, boring—or worse, irrelevant.

We created DECKlare! to change that.

DECKlare! is a fast-paced, cooperative storytelling card game where students don’t just study the revolution—they live it.

Players take on the roles of Fighters, Strategists, Healers, or Scouts, each with unique abilities. You also draw a sidekick card—either a mythical creature or a native healing plant—that grants you one special power per encounter.

Then your group chooses a story campaign, like Freeing a Captured Village or Sabotaging a Colonial Supply Line. Together, you face 4–5 encounters filled with enemies, dilemmas, and tough decisions. On your turn, you take action based on your role, roll the dice to determine the outcome, and use your sidekick’s help if needed. Every smart move and lucky roll earns you morale points and pushes the mission forward.

To win, your team must complete the mission—like lighting 4 rebel lanterns across the region—before your shared morale runs out. Fail to act, and the resistance loses hope.

So why does this matter?

Because Gen Z doesn’t want another lecture—we crave connection, story, and action. In a country where over 90% of students fall into learning poverty, history needs to come alive. It needs to be something you feel.

DECKlare! doesn’t just teach resistance. It builds empathy, teamwork, and critical thinking. Students walk away not just knowing who fought for them—but why it mattered. And that emotional connection? That’s what lights a spark far beyond the game table.

Cooking stories, sharing the recipes of life — mmmory envisions a medium amplifying the realities of the people and the stories they simmered through food! Through a multi-cultural cookbook, it showcases unique recipes from target communities, the history of how they came to be, and alternatives that enable an accessible experience of these underrepresented cuisines.

With this project, we will identify partner communities, local seamstresses, artisans, and volunteers to build a strong network. Then, set up booths to showcase upcycled products and run a social media campaign to share our partners’ stories. Do workshops on fast fashion awareness and patchwork techniques will engage participants and encourage creative reuse, alongside visits to local artisan communities in Yogyakarta.

Lastly, develop and launch an app that lets users reach out to tailors, send textile waste for upcycling, and buy unique items made from factory scraps—all while supporting local craftsmanship!

Through these efforts, ReMakers aims to reduce textile waste, promote slow fashion, and empower local artisans across Indonesia.

Communities are left exposed to powerful storms, their livelihoods are disappearing, and a vital piece of the global climate puzzle is being lost forever.

That’s why we created this project. We’re using creative media, from comics to animated videos, to give a voice to the mangroves. We’re working with the next generation to empower them with knowledge. We're not just planting trees; we're planting a story, hoping to inspire a new generation of guardians for the Irrawaddy Delta.

Our project tackles this encouraging self-reliance among incarcerated women. We introduce an innovative solution which includes on-site vocational workshops for incarcerated women to create reusable cloth sanitary pads from textile waste.

In the one-week workshop, participants learn everything from menstrual health and hygiene to sewing techniques and basic business skills. They'll craft their own reusable pads and menstrual kits, gaining a vital skill and newfound agency. This isn't just about providing pads, it is about unlocking potential for future employment and independence.

Our project aims to turn agricultural waste into daily-use sanitation products that are safe for sensitive skin (hypoallergenic), white in color, and soft, while addressing four critical challenges in developing countries:

1. Poor sanitation from unflushed tissue waste piling in bins

2. Frequent clogging from improper flushing

3. Unflushability of conventional toilet paper

4. High costs of current eco-friendly options

Through a collaborative pilot project, FlushAja will be produced in Thailand and tested in two villages — Warungkiara (Indonesia) and Tha Koi (Thailand). We will compare customer response, aiming for ≥80% satisfaction, before deciding on the optimal launch location.

Our impact spans across environmental regeneration and social empowerment. If successful, we will scale into larger markets and pass on the production knowledge to local communities — enabling sustainable, self-driven micro-enterprises.

With our own hands, we sew these pieces into warm blankets for the homeless, repurposed clothes for children in orphanages, and meaningful items for those in need. But we don’t stop there, we also open our hearts and skills by conducting free sewing workshops for orphans, low-income (B40) individuals, and the homeless. In these sessions, they don't just learn how to sew; they learn how to rebuild, how to earn, and how to believe in themselves again.

Mangroves are Cambodia’s coastal superheroes. They protect our shores, nurture marine life, and sustain local communities. But despite their value, they’re disappearing fast — and most conservation efforts are missing one thing: young people.

That’s why we have created YMS — an immersive program where high school and university students learn from experts using our custom guidebook, explore the mangrove community, and pitch real solutions. Winning teams receive seed funding to continue their projects beyond the summit and be a part of the youth network — turning awareness into long-term action.

Our project offers a hopeful alternative. Through culturally grounded trilingual e-books—in H’Mông, Vietnamese, and English—we provide students with engaging learning tools that honour their identity. Paired with joyful after-school sessions led by local teachers and volunteers, the books bring storytelling, singing, and games into language learning. Each session includes gamified assessments to track growth in language skills and cultural understanding.

Beyond the classroom, the project group will help build a digital heritage website and offline archive to preserve family stories, traditions, and local knowledge. These resources will be housed in schools and community centres, ensuring lasting access even in areas without internet.

By centering education on both language and culture, TRIbaLingual empowers students to succeed academically—while growing up proud of who they are and where they come from.

Our project tackles this by creating tailored, physical interactive booklets and a complementary website integrating up-to-date local science with gamified learning (e.g., ‘Coral Bingo’), making complex information understandable and actionable.

This approach fosters curiosity and community ownership, with booklet sales directly funding local partners like Scuba Junkie, Semporna Island Project, Reef Check Malaysia and University of Malaya to ensure a self-sustaining conservation impact.

At KnowRoots, we’re bringing indigenous wisdom into the digital age — reconnect generations, protecting culture and preserving indigenous knowledge. Through stories, rituals, and sustainable practices, we’re giving ancient knowledge new life and a global stage.

Through the installation of a repeater tower, distribution of handheld radios, and training for local youth and household representatives, AUSlink empowers the people of Tanap to become first responders in times of crisis. This off-grid system allows real-time communication between barangays and the municipal Disaster Risk Reduction Office, bridging the deadly gap caused by unreliable mobile networks and power outages.

More than just a technical solution, AUSlink is a model of sustainability and regeneration. It equips Tanap with the tools, knowledge, and community leadership to maintain and expand the system over time. When disaster strikes, Tanap will not be alone — it will be connected, prepared, and resilient.

There is a lack of awareness for Down Syndrome kids in Lombok, Indonesia. This pushes us to adress this urgency, through an innovative and fresh project that unites all children.

We aim to explore Down Syndrome from a social community perspective instead of a medical perspective. Creating a community and building a platform that allows Special kids to build connections and collaborate with normal kids through workshops. Providing opportunities outside of the usual formal educational system, exploring an innovative and experimental way of educating not only Special kids, but also their families. To make them feel comfortable, accepted, and have place in society. While also educating families on the negative cultural and religious misconceptions of Down Syndrome that exist in Indonesia. Reclaiming normality and dignity, we hope to develop this new model for ASEAN countries.

Plastic doesn't disappear it just moves downstream. In the Citarum River, it piles up every day: bottles, bags, wrappers choking the water, killing life beneath the surface, and threatening the health of millions who depend on this river and the longer we wait, the deeper the damage.

Therefore, our objective for Blue Cycle empowers local PKK (women's groups) to lead grassroots recycling efforts through education, community waste banks, and hands-on product creation. By turning plastic into valuable goods and collaborating with partners like Newhun Recycle, the project fosters environmental

action, economic opportunity, and community pride. We intend to impact by

1. 2 tons of plastic waste collected, 1

ton recycled into products (paving blocks, bins).

2. 500+ residents educated on plastic pollution and recycling.

3. 30% income increase for participating PKK members.

4. Product adoption and partnerships with organizations like NEWHUN to

support circular economy growth.
