1. In the reading, it says children played an important role. They enlisted in the army, helped out at home and took on more community responsibilities. Some notable teenagers are Deborah Sampson, Sybil Ludington, Lafayette, James Monroe, and Thomas Young.

2.
- That teenagers were fighting in the war
- That women were able to fight

3. I think it is important to look at history through this perspective because we are teenagers and it gives us a look into what life was like then. It's important to understand how we got to today's society. It also makes us think about our privilege today.

-Eva and Abril

Children that wanted to help with the war effort could join the military as young as 16. Children younger who couldn't join were still able to help by being messengers and nursing wounded soldiers. An huge effect that this had on the children at the time was that a lot of children were dropping out of school by age 10 to either help with the war or to get a job to help provide for their family. Examples of these people were Andrew Jackson, who would eventually become the 7th President of the United States, Major Thomas Young, James Armistead, a slave and spy who gained his freedom from his efforts, and Deborah Sampson, a woman who fought during the war by disguising herself.
One thing that surprised us were how young some of the children were when they contributed to the war.
We think that looking at history through this perspective is important because it shows how you are never too young to help make a great change in the world.

Germans were the forefront of the printing industry in the colonies. During the war, Germans in the colonies formed volunteer militia companies. Von Steuben was a general under George Washington, and he contributed to the continental army's victories by drilling discipline in the troops.

The Irish Republic was connected to the American colonies on the basis of two reasons. Irish immigrants finding refuge in America, and the similar quest for political independence against Great Britain. Since the Irish also wanted independence from England around this time, they supported the Colonies, even though they got independence in 1949, while the colonies got their freedom in 1783.

I found it surprising that the German newspaper was first to publish the Declaration of Independence. Also, the Irish republic was inspired by the patriots in the colonies.

I think looking at history through this perspective is important because it explains the connections between not just the Colonies themselves, but also the nations around them. it also allows you to see how they were all connected the Great Britain, and it explains each group's motives behind their role in the revolutionary war.

Women from all backgrounds recognized values in the American cause and stepped up to serve the cause of the new nation as best as they could alongside their husband as an act of devotion . Many women were politically active, such as giving speeches and writings. Women acted as doctors and nurses for wounded or upset soldiers in the war. Abigail Adams, in fact, fought and argued for women’s rights and for them to be remembered and credited for their roles in both ordinary and war life.
Interesting Facts: Women would dress as men to be allowed to interact with warfare.
We think it’s important to credit and remember women in the Revolutionary War. It shows different perspectives from people of different backgrounds. It shows how strong women can be and how accepting help from someone the men never thought to ask can go such a long way.
The amount of devotion to their husbands and willingness to help all that they can.
(Alexander Cruz Jennifer Aguilar)

During the revolutionary War the Native Americans were divided due to the choosing of sides. The coexistence between the six nations had come to an end as they did not agree to which side they would fight with. The British encouraged groups to join them in order to obtain more troops then America, most did join with British in order to stop the furthering American settlement.
- The "Town Destroyers" were Americans and Iroquois who raided and destroyed towns.
- 1782 was the bloody year and this was due to the message not being spread for Yorktown.
- I think it is important to look at history through this perspective because, it allows the reader to understand the severity of how poorly the Americans treaty the Native Americans. Along with the process the Americans took to destroy Native American culture and representation
- This way of looking at history was interesting because, It allows the reader to examine a different point of view. Along with how the Native Americans were affected by the Revolutionary War.

Summary: African Americans had a large role during the Revolutionary War against the colonies because the British offered them their freedom.

Surprising Things

1. Why does the author write like that? Is this allowed? Why is the author describing people like objects?

2. African Americans had large roles in religion (especially in Baptist and Methodist churches)

It is important to remind ourselves that African Americans were not passive at this time and had many different principles of religion and opinions on freedom. They did everything with intention because they thought logically.

The way of history is interesting because it analyzes the choices of enslaved Africans as individuals (using their names and specific motivations) rather than looking at it as a monolith.
