My family and I came to America on 04/11/2019. We almost could not come because of Covid-19, America had closed its borders and no flights could enter or leave the USA. But some of the US citizens in South Sudan complained and said they couldn't stay. So a flight was sent. My dad worked at the US Embassy in South Sudan and he talked to the US ambassador at the time and we got an opportunity to get on the plane and come here. With this experience I learnt to be patient.

When we came to America I couldn't imagine I was actually here because I never thought of being here before.
The first three months we lived with my aunt and her husband. Then we moved to our home. But things were getting difficult for us my dad and mom couldn't find a job because of Covid-19 but a month later they got a job and things started move smoothly for us. When Christmas came we went to Pennsylvania to visit my dad's friend who he worked with in South Sudan, we spent a week there. Then we started school in September 2020. School here wasn't hard as I thought and plus my English is pretty good but most people don't understand what I say because of my accent.
What I learnt from this experience is that difficult times don't last and there is always room for improvement.

Uganda

I moved to Uganda in 2013 for education and also because there was war in South Sudan. Me and my sister were in a boarding school while my dad and mom remained behind because of their jobs. Our first time in boarding was stressful because it was a new experience, we missed our parents because they could hardly come and see because they were in a different country. I remember my first night when my dad dropped us I cried because I thought I would never see him again.
We had to adopt to the boarding life and we had to get comfortable around other kids and learn to stay without our parents. We learnt English and some little Luganda(a language in Uganda). Every after a term/semester, we went back to my home country then when school started we used to come back to Uganda. I liked boarding school a lot because it was just fun. Boarding school taught me how to responsible, sharing and to take care of my little siblings.
In 2015 after a war broke in South Sudan my mom scarified her job so my dad could rent a house in Uganda and could permanently stay in Uganda instead coming back to Uganda and again move back to South Sudan.
