Meyer illustrates how Cinder and Adri’s different point of views emphasize the meaning of the work. Throughout the novel, one can clearly tell how uncomfortable Cinder is with being a cyborg, and although she believes that everyone-humans, cyborgs, and androids-is equal, she still recognizes the disdain the rest of the world holds for “people” like her. The author mentions, “Most of her customers couldn’t fathom how a teenage girl could be the best mechanic in the city, and she never broadcast the reason for her talent. The fewer people who knew she was cyborg, the better” (Meyer 10). Despite society’s opinion on how inhuman Cinder is, she still finds a more positive way of looking at herself through her differences. She does not think being a cyborg is anything to be ashamed about, and because of that, she is able to find a purpose for her cybernetics, and uses them to excel at her job, instead of choosing to look at them as burdens. On the other hand, Adri’s opinion on cyborgs and androids differs drastically. She sees them as inferior and believes they should not have rights which leads to the mistreatment of Cinder-her adopted child-through mental abuse and making her Adri’s own personal slave. When Peony, one of Adri’s daughters, dies from a world-spread disease, a grieving Adri says to Cinder, “Don’t just stand there, pretending to understand what I can be going through. You are not a part of this family. You aren’t even human anymore.” (Meyer 279). Through this, Adri’s repulsion for Cinder’s kind is shown. However, even though these comments are a quick way to put Cinder in her place, they end up having the opposite effect and instead, solidify Cinder’s view of herself, making her more determined to prove Adri wrong. Adri’s position against Cinder sets into concrete Cinder’s acceptance of herself as a cyborg and helps her to realize, even if just in defiance, her self worth.

Even though Romeo's love for Juliet is tremendous, he still faces challenges in order to be fully happy with her. He dreams of possibilities but doubts in truth. The reader can clearly see how Romeo lives a life of false hope.

Throughout the series, Kiera Cass shows the dangers of conformity by highlighting the vast differences in the personalities between America Singer and Kriss Ambers. America Singer is a short tempered, stubborn young woman who has only ever known a life confined by a caste system. This fosters a sense of righteousness within her which becomes a key part of her identity. She is constantly fighting for freedom from the standards of society. The narrator states, "I felt the heat of a blush on my cheeks. "Twos can afford to pay their way out of the draft, so I'm sure Lady Celeste has never seen what it does when families lose their only sons. Taking more would be devastating particularly for the lower castes, who tend to have larger families and need every member to work in order to survive." (Cass, Elite, 72) This shows the reader the outspokenness that America possesses even on issues where her opinions are considered controversial. Even as she is placed in the spotlight in front of the entire country she holds strong to her morals. She does not allow opinions of those around her confine her to the roles she is supposed to play. Even as other girls change their identities as they compete to win the hearts of both the prince and the public, America stays true to herself which is what ultimately was in her favor because she stood out and captured the attention and heart of the prince. In comparison, Kriss Ambers is a relatively sweet girl who aims to please those around her. Kriss's adaptive personality is what led her to be favored by the king and the public who wanted a princess who would follow the status quo. The reader sees this when America states, " When I kept thinking that there was option than me for his princess, I'd been imagining Kriss. She was lovely and patient and a million things that I wasn't."(Cass, Elite, 128). Kriss's attributes leave her to easily succumb to pressures society has placed on her. Her ability to be a cookie cutter princess supports the reasoning of why she was so well liked in a country where the leaders are determined to keep the country static. This is seen when the king states, " Kriss is far lovelier and far more agreeable." (Cass, Elite, 198). Although Kriss would make a perfect princess she was not what a society in such disarray needed which can be highlighted by the fact that she came close to winning but ultimately lost. The author uses stark contrasts in America and Kriss's personalities to show the reader that conforming to societies idea of who you should be can come at a great cost.

Throughout the play, William Shakespeare uses the feud between the Montague's and Capulet's to display the lasting effect of Tybalt's and Benvolio's actions. All his life, Tybalt has been analyzing and seeing first hand the hate between the two families. It's almost as if it's Tybalt's nature to feel and act the way he does. Tybalt was the "loose cannon" that added fuel to the fire. The narrator states, "Tybalt. What, drown, and talk of peace! I hate the word, As I hate hell, all Montague's, and thee: Have at thee, coward!" (Shakespeare, 995). The reader can see how much anger Tybalt has in him. Tybalt doesn't care for peace because being dangerous and hateful excites him more. Living this type of life is what lead to Tybalt's death. On the contrary, Benvolio didn't see the need for all the bloodshed and violence. All Benvolio wanted was for there to be peace. The narrator states, "Benvolio. I do but keep the peace. Put up they sword, Or manage it to part these men with me." (Shakespeare, 996). Also Benvolio knew that Tybalt and himself were very different. The way Benvolio described Tybalt the reader could imply Tybalt was a bull that only sees red. For example, the narrator states, "Benvolio...In the instant came the fiery Tybalt, with his sword prepared; Which as he breathed defiance to my ears, he swung his head and cut the winds." (Shakespeare, 998). Although Benvolio is the peacemaker and Tybalt is the hothead, they will always be caught in the middle of the feud. It can be implied that they can't turn their back on their family.

To start with, the author uses fragments of storytelling to show the feelings and differences between Lakshmi and Monica to reveal a loss of innocence . Even though Lakshmi has intimate thoughts about her fears, hopes, her confusion, and anger, her character still remains a mystery. In Nepal, one can see how Lakshmi is super curios about everything going on, but she is also content with her life there. Her invincible spirit and her inner strength becomes visible in her thoughts about her family and future. Lakshmi's stepfather has ultimate power over her. Lakshmi places a Coca Cola bottle in the basket at the store as a gift for her family's sake. Afterward Lakshmi states "On any other day, he would not tolerate such defiance, especially, from a mere girl, but today I am no mere girl" (McCormick 39). Lakshmi defies her father and she obviously feels empowered or like she was a hero.

Because she gets the most customers and she is a good earner, she gets special privileges. When Lakshmi asks Monica why doesn't she run away she explains it is because of her love for her daughter, which shows Monica's sacrifice. After Monica saves Lakshmi from being molested by the doctor, she gives her a "tatted rag doll" to sleep with (McCormick 139). Monica has illusions about the repercussions of her life after brothel. She tells Lakshmi "They will thank us and honor us when we go home" (McCormick 122). It is almost impossible for Monica to retain hope because of the many girls that have gone before her. Although Monica and Lakshmi are in the same situation, the author utilizes their personalities and wisdom to help each other through it.

Strikingly, the conclusion of the story enables the differences in between Peter and Ender to show the reader . Desperately, Peter tries to be the best, but is destined to always be second to Ender. Even with Ender living in fear of Peter, he is still the instinctive child. He even states, " It was what I was born for, isn't it? If I don't go, why am I alive? 'Not good enough, Graff said. 'I don't want to go, 'but I will"(Card 26). This shows the reader how Ender is forced to take this road in life. He does not desire what his brother Peter wants. This drives the hate between them once Peter sees Ender with the chance he had never got. He goes as far as saying, "I could kill you like this , Peter whispered. ' Just press and press until you're dead"(Card 12). This also goes to show the different personality's of the characters. One would see Peter as lacking compassion and ruthless, while Ender is seen in a different light. He was just like peter but milder (Card 24). Although Ender has never done anything wrong to Peter. He still has many hardships to overcome with him. The hate they have for each other only continues to grow. It turns them to beasts who no longer have brotherhood.

To begin with, Nicholas uses the end of the story to clarify how the love between Allie and Noah is unbreakable even though they are different. When Allie returns to see her summer love, while being engaged, she then must make a decision between 2 men that she loves. It is almost as if her heart is telling her one thing but her mind is telling her another. The narrator states, "You cant live your life for other people. You've got to what's right for you, even if it hurts some people you love... but no matter what I choose I have to live with it. Forever. I have to be able to look forward and not look back" (Sparks 141). The reader can clearly see that Allie does not know who to choose. Once she realizes who she truly loves, she will be happy and not be scared to choose. Perhaps it is because of her big heart and trying to make her wealthy parents happy by doing what they want her to do. On the contrary, Noah still continues to live a life of poverty, even after turning down all offers on the house he built. Towards the end of the book, Noah is seen quite differently than Allie. As Noah knows what and who he wants, Allie does not (Sparks 140). He appears to be a man that does not let go of what he believes in and is still in love with Allie. The narrator states, " You and I were different. We came from different worlds, and yet you were who taught me the value of love (Sparks 150). Even though Allie is not truly aware of who she wants to choose, Noah will always love her and never forget about her. Their bond is unbreakable based on the foundation they have built together. Although their world's are different, Nicholas uses the fondness of their relationship to highlight the difficult of love.

Although Adam lives life to stay determined, Adam will face a tough decision only right-minded people would make the right decision. Adam says"We want to control the time and the location. Rather than wait for them to attack our neighborhood when and where they want, we need them to come right along here, right across this bridge where we'll be waiting for them." (E. Walts 395) Any reader could see that this decision would be life-threatening but could give a great reward. It could be that Adam has everything planned out and is ready to progress in the world. Adam is speaking to himself" The emergency plans had some people believing we weren't going to win." (E. Walters 397) The people in Adam's town thought that the town would lose the battle, but Adam stays determined that the town will win the battle. Adam informs the reader"There behind those walls were my brother and sister, Lori, her family, and almost every other person in the world who meant anything to me, and I knew something that they didn't know. We were going to live." (E. Walters 405) Adam and the town's decision show's that the best choice or decision comes with the best reward, whether it's life-threatening or to just do your homework.
