Garlic contains allicin which is responsible for its antimicrobial properties. The researchers then thought about utilizing its extract to inhibit the growth of Trichophyton rubrum.

Trichophyton rubrum is a type of dermatophyte responsible for the occurrence of numerous fungal infections like onychomycosis, ringworm, athlete's foot and many more.
