I believe the worldwide economic depression had a very large impact on causing WWII for many reasons. One of these reasons being that many countries were economically unstable after WWI. Also, countries relied on others in order to gain stability, so when the United States crashed, basically so did everyone else. This is due to the fact that many other major causes link back to it. The treaty of Versailles punished Germany for WWI heavily, laying on heavy war reparations and forcing them to take responsibility for the entire war. This treatment led to the highly industrialized Germany, when controlled by a fascist group angry about the treaty, to go in to war overdrive and become an even stronger military superpower.
