He taught himself Latin and Greek at the ripe age of 12. He was mostly self taught from his father's library, but he went to University of Leipzig at age 14 as a law student with a Bachelor’s Degree. He entered university study at the age of 15, and at age 17 he got his Master's Degree in Philosophy. He was considered a very intelligent person for how much stuff he had created and discovered on his own.

He created the first mechanical calculator called “Stepped Reckoner” and it could do addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. He also helped create modern day calculus and he is even credited with creating modern library science. He also wrote a manuscript using the ∫ f (x) dx notation for the first time. Leibniz discovered the familiar d(xn) = nxn-1dx for both integral and fractional n. He also formulated the theory of monads and discovered binary numbers.
