I was surprised that St. Anne was started by a dutch. ( I thought that it was started by Chinese, but who knew?) I was also surprised that St. Anne is a private place, NOT a foundation supported by the government. Weird, don't you think? It's also surprising when you think that a flea market made by a bunch of 4th graders can raise so much money! ( I think they/we raised about 7 thousand dollars ( US money) last year.) Wow! Who knew that a few boxes of used stuff can do such a good/big cause? Every year I thought that the flea market was just a excuse to buy more books and stuff.  Or a fair where we buy used stuff . ( Or a fair at school where the stuff is cheap and not damaged.) This year I realized that the fair is for donating money to the needy children, NOT just for buying new toys, or earning extra money. I always thought that the 4th graders or the school earn and get the money, not St. Anne's home! I  never knew that the stuff I bought was for such a good cause! This year, I am soooo donating and buying more. ( That way the kids at the St. Anne will have extra money!!) Who knew that a few acres of land and a dutch priest can become so important? I also realized that not all parents like their kids. I used to think that all parents loved their child/ children, and would never throw them away just because they are not like everyone else. It makes us seem really lucky to have such good parents, and go to such an elite school. The people at St. Anne's home are less fortunate, but they are happy the way they are, which makes me think that sometimes we take some things for granted. It's hard to think that there are people who need help with even the simplest things, like walking around or even talking. I think having the flea market is a great opportunity for the students here, to help the children. The children need help in doing things, such as showering themselves, or walking by themselves. Before I thought only the donation box's money goes to St. Anne's home. So I use to put almost half the money I brought for the flea market into the donation box.
