In this book, the protagonist toad Thomas tries to be a bully, thinking that he won't be able to make a friend. He thinks that he should be a bully since he cannot make a friend. He tries to be a bully picking on others and becoming muscular, but he realizes he is a terrible bully. He then decides to pick on a friend who is smaller than his size, Gomer. Gomer cries, but soon Thomas realizes that he is crying because of a true bully, the baddest-to-the-bone bully he's ever seen. Thomas saves his friend Gomer and when Thomas tells Gomer that he is a terrible bully, Gomer replies that Thomas is a "toadilly terrific friend".

My initial reaction to this book was laughter. I thought the concept of Thomas trying so hard to become a great bully was very funny. He was trying so hard to act so big and strong, after thinking that he would not be able to make friends. I loved how the book all throughout the story showed how though Thomas was truly persevering to be a bad bully, he was not a bully at all, from the start to the end. Moreover, Thomas ended up saving Gomer, a friend smaller than his size, rather than bullying him. Also, the two became friends, Gomer even stating that Thomas was a terrific friend. I think this book showed how kindness always prevails, even though sometimes being a bully might seem like a solution, especially when you fear not being accepted, like how Thomas felt at the start of the book.

Over the summer, Tina has grown taller. She struggles with her different height. She has to stand in the back when taking the class picture, which she is upset about. She is supposed to stand next to her best friends Nancy and Luke. They are supposed to be like the three Musketeers. Her jump rope is also too short now. She is asked "how the weather is up there", which she does not think is funny at all. In the end, she is able to find a longer jump rope and saves the ball from the tree. Other children as well as Tina herself learns to accept her different height and learns that being different is nothing weird or wrong, but something to be accepted and appreciated.

This book talks about Tina's struggling growing "too tall" during the summer. She feels different and does not feel too happy about the various changes she is going through growing taller and facing different situations. In the end, she learns to accept her difference and love herself for who she is. This book is a book about self love and acceptance, and I truly recommend this book to anyone who feels self conscious whether that be because they feel too tall, too fat, too short, or too anything!

Classmate Lenny visits Roxy's home and gets some insight regarding Roxy's autism and the different big and small accommodations and assistance she gets to help her communicate with others and get one with her activities of daily living (ADLs). For example, Roxy is told specific times when her mom will pick her up or she will eat dinner. Her family has a chart of specific snacks for specific weekdays. Roxy's mom sometimes needs to redirect her so that Roxy can communicate and play with Lenny. This book shows specific situations in which children with autism behave somewhat differently and help readers understand autism better.

I loved that this book portrayed autism as something that can be understood and accepted. Roxy's family and Lenny were never judging and accepted Roxy as who she was and autism was treated as a unique characteristic, not a disability, as it should. The book shows how we, as a whole, should be less judging and normalize differences. I thought Lenny accepting Roxy was also very sweet and kind, as well as showed pure friendship between two children.

This video is not the most recent but it shows a perfect example of homophobic attitude and prejudice some children face for having two dads. The boy in the video was bullied by his teacher at school when he mentioned his pending adoption to two dads and the teacher went as far as to ask the boy if he was going to be gay now. The boy’s friends stood up for him and the teacher was fired. I thought this video related to this book and think this shows not only the difficulties some children face but also how to cope with such uncomfortable and bullying situations.

I think we need more books like this. I loved that this book and the series in general shows diverse families. With the changing world and high divorce rates, there are so many different families: families with one parent, families with two dads, families with two moms, and so on. I loved how this book showed a unique family and also showed a positive and accepting attitude. I loved how Lenny was never judging and always accepting, and played and had fun with his friend Jazz.

I was initially a bit sad thinking about Connor having to be separate from his mother when he is still a little kid. However, Connor and his dad showed positive attitude throughout the book and his mom was able to read bedtime stories to Connor through a video call. I think this book allowed readers to understand how military families face struggles being apart from each other. I loved how Lenny was willing to learn more about Connor and had a great time playing with his friend.

Lenny visits Skye's two homes and discovers that her parents are divorced. Skye has two homes, two rooms, and two fathers, because her mother was re-married to another man, Nick, after divorcing Skye's dad. Skye's mother, father, and stepfather all taught Skye how to play baseball. She has two homes and two rooms, and both of her rooms are decorated to her liking, showing that all of her parents love her deeply and care about her. The book shows that despite the unique circumstances, Skye's family loves her and cares about her deeply.

With globalization and more immigrants and diversity, more and more families are multicultural nowadays. I think this book showed a perfect example of a multicultural family. While Kan's family wore slippers and used chopsticks, they also played drums and cooked barbecue. I loved how the book showed how the family was made up of two different cultures and backgrounds, but also showed a perfect combination of both.

With higher divorce rates and diverse populations more and more families are blended now. The traditional and more conventional "stepmom" was seen in storybooks and fairytales like Cinderella. The initial impression of a stepmother or step-family members connected to the idea of "Cinderella's stepmother and stepsisters" who tortured Cinderella mercilessly. However, modern books are more positive towards stepfamilies, stepmothers, and stepsisters, as well as stepbrothers. I loved that this book showed how a blended family can also be a very happy family.

This book really triggered my interest. I have been watching Miss Universe pageants for years and the most recent Miss Universe, Miss Universe 2021, is Miss India. That triggered my interest and I have been gathering more knowledge about India and its culture, such as the holiday Holi when people have festivals and paint their bodies in colors. I loved how this book showed an aspect of Indian culture, like how they eat hummus. I loved how this book showed cultural aspects of Layla's family.

This book teaches us LGBTQ+ vocabulary in the form of ABCs. For example, introducing the letter D, they teach the readers about the term "drag". I initially thought this book was very informational and positive in that it teaches children LGBTQ+ terms and allows them to become more familiar with certain concepts. I do feel a bit wary about teaching a toddler his or her ABCs with this book. I think some parents may feel uncomfortable teaching their toddlers the English language with this book. I think this book may trigger some controversies.

I loved how Adam and his parents openly discussed and talked about the adoption. I loved how Adam talked about when he chose his parents and got a reply back saying that they chose him too. I think this book conveyed that family is not only by blood but also by choice. Adam's family was a family based on choice, but they were still really close. The book showed how the family really loved each other and cared for each other.

I think this book shows situations in which single moms do face some struggles. For example, Kenneth had to stay in the afterschool program, not able to go right home, because his mom was at work. He also explained that there are times when he has to spend time with his uncle because his mom has to work late. I loved how the book showed such struggles, but also expressed them in a positive light. Despite the circumstances, Lenny and Kenneth still had a very good time and had a lot of fun. The book also showed that no matter what, moms love their kids.

I think this book shows a good example of a single dad family. Some aspects such as Destiny's family having a babysitter and Destiny doing certain activities by herself such as finding a snack for herself shows how children and parents cope with single parent circumstances. I loved how Lenny was willing to learn about Destiny's family. I also thought it was interesting that Destiny's dad made chocolate covered broccoli and Lenny exclaimed a "Yum". I thought this showed positive attitude and creativeness that Destiny's dad possessed. Broccoli is something children often dislike, but these particular ones even made Lenny react very positively. I am willing to try those broccolis!

He saves another boy when a bully hits the boy. He saves a girl when another bullying girl doesn't let her play with them. Zach also stops a bully scaring a boy. Zach also stops a girl from telling lies about another girl. Zach tells the other kids to "never fight, cry, or say mean things" and that others can do what he does.

In this book, the characters are creatures/people that are called "wemmicks" and they give each other gold stars or grey dots to determine how "good" or "special" they are. A wemmick named Punchinello only receives grey dots and feels sad about only receiving negativity instead of the gold stars he really wants. One day he meets a girl wemmick named Lucia and discovers that Lucia does not have either gold stars or grey dots, because they never stick to her. Punchinello also desires to become like Lucia: he wants to stop the stickers from attaching to him. Punchinello goes to his creator Eli, and asks him how to become like Lucia. Eli explains that the only way to stop the stickers from attaching is to stop caring about what the other wemmicks think. This book shows that what is most important is realizing and knowing your self-value and loving yourself, rather than relying on others' opinions.

You can be fast. You can be slow. In terms of thinking or running, or anything else. You can be black. You can be white. You can be Asian. You can be different in so many ways, like how this sloth in the picture is slow, yet special in his own way. More children should realize that differences should be accepted and not looked down on. More than that, more children should and must learn to learn themselves first before anything else. The stickers in this book reminded me of facebook and instagram likes, and how children and teenagers these days are so obsessed with getting more likes. This reflects how children and young populations desire to get recognized and complimented by their peers. Children may feel ostracized or left out when they feel like they do not get enough likes or recognition, when they do not feel "popular" enough. However, what they should know is that what matters most is how much you love yourself. This book teaches readers and children that what determines your true value is yourself, not other people.

This book is about grief and loss, but it is also about love and hope. As the book says, while the ones we love, and the ones that love us dearly, may pass away and go up to heaven and the sky, they will never leave us. The book shows how the children in the book still have their lost parents with them in a sense. It also shows how the imprints that parents left on earth, the children, still linger. The girl's mother says her father is "in her eyes" and that the girl "has his nose". This book shows that though a child may have lost a parent or parents, love is eternal and their memories and traces still remain.

This book was beautiful, positive, and hopeful, but I still felt deep sadness and grief. For children, losing a parent or living without a parent can be a difficult issue to overcome. They may feel as if they are missing something in life. However, this book shows how parents are always there for us, no matter what, whether that be in real life or after death. This book showed how though life can end, love cannot.

When the boy in the book asks his grandmother what love is, she replies that she is unable to answer the question and says that when the boy goes out into the world the boy might figure that out. The boy goes out to the world and learns that different people have different definitions of love. To the fisherman, love is a fish. To the carpenter, love is a house. To the actor, love is applause, recognition of the crowd of people watching his performance. Like this, the boy, who grows and ages, throughout his life, sees and learns that everyone has different definitions of love. The boy all grown up now returns to his grandmother and says that he has answered the question: What is love? I believe that to the boy, to the boy who has now become a man, love is his grandmother, or perhaps family or the love he has with the ones he cares about, or loves. See? As the grandmother said, we cannot actually say correctly what love is because love is so broad and deep at the same time. Perhaps that is why the book's title itself is the question: What is love?

It made sense that different people loved different interests and things. It made sense that the fisherman loved fish and the cat loved the night. The book made me question what I love. I love children, I love mentoring them, and that is why I chose education as my major. I love teaching. As a teacher, I think I will love students. That will be my reply when I am asked what I love. I will also reply that I love ice cream, Korean food, tacos, UT Austin my beloved school, my family, and myself. Love can be so many things and we can love so many things as well. The grocery consists of silly items like spiders' legs and extra clean germs, which dad laughs about. The girl is excited to be at the grocery store out with her dad and runs and runs and bumps into a man. Her dad tells her to stop and the girl sits still and tries to behave. However, she ends up sneezing making her dad jump and causing the people in the grocery store bump into each other, also making objects fall. Everyone blames each other and the girl exclaims that she sneezed and started the whole chaos. Everyone realizes that there is no use blaming each other or anyone and cleans up the mess together. The girl's dad is very proud of her.

I love how this book showed the love between the dad and the daughter. The dad, though he did in a sense discipline his daughter when she got too excited and started running around, was clearly proud when she was honest to the people about sneezing first causing the chaos. I think children can get into big and small accidents, not because they are careless, but because they are people. And I believe that the book portrayed such accidents as a simple sneeze. Like the girl in the book, children should learn that blaming is never the right choice and that it is okay to talk about what happened, especially when you had no intention to make it happen.

This book brought tears to my eyes, thinking of how my own parents gave birth to me and raised me with this kind of love portrayed in the book. I have pictures of pots and pans on my head when I was a baby. I have watched videos of myself practicing English for the first time. I think this book is certainly a book for children since it will most definitely remind them that their parents love them very much. I think this book showed the limitless love a father can have for his child, and thought the book was very touching and heartwarming.

I think the book showed a perfect example of how good always prevails. More than the bewitching spells, the good food moved the people. The witch aunt even thought the girl's food was able to move/control the people better. I also thought the book wanted to talk about following one's passion and overcoming differences. I loved this book and especially how the girl succeeded in pursuing her passion and became a famous chef.

My initial reaction to this book was pure adoration, love, and rethinking of my childhood memories. I remember how my dad taught me about the solar system using the sentence "Most violet evening moths jitter slowly until night passes." I loved how this book conjured up those memories I have with my dad. I also realized that it is important to make learning a fun memory, like how my dad made learning fun for me. I think this book certainly is included in the "fun" category, with its humorous rhyme and colorful pictures that enchant the readers. Moreover using phrases like "Pluto was fired", it conveys scientific facts with humor, not only entertaining children but also making the information in the book easier to understand. I would certainly recommend this book to children, since it combines language and science elaborately and enables readers to not only become more scientifically knowledgeable but also to improve their vocabulary using rhymes and poetry. I loved that this book combined multiple genres like being non-fiction and poetry and rhyme at the same time.
