This is my final proposed bedroom floor plan. This project was all about measuring, re-scaling, and using creativity to redesign my bedroom. I used lots of inspiration from different architectures, pinterest, and personal preferences to complete this floor plan. My intent was to maximize space and natural lighting while maintaining functionality. I think I did a decent job of this as I incorporated many features such as a loft bed, a book nook beneath a window to increase space and functionality.

Foam Board Model

The creation of the bedroom 3D foam board model was an essential step in translating the my bedroom layout from a two-dimensional plan into a 3 dimensional visual. The core intention behind my choices and purpose of my bedroom prototype was not just for it to be visually aesthetic, but to visualize the scale and proportions of walls, windows, doors, and furniture encapsulated within to maximize functionality and space.

Cardboard Model

This is my final Hoi An Shophouse model. The model's aesthetic is a reflection of Hoi An's unique heritage. The vibrant colors of the brick and shutters reflect local architectural characteristics, the use of stucco and the multi story building is birthed from French colonial influence that was layered onto Vietnamese building forms.

The shutters themselves are essential to the design's functionality, providing crucial ventilation and protection from the tropical sun and monsoon rains. The texture of the roof made of cardboard intentionally simulates the heavy, tiled roofs seen in Hoi An. The rain gutters are a direct response to the tropical climate .

The crafted shutters are a key functional element, allowing light and air to be ventilated without disturbing privacy or security which is a solution for regulating the Vietnamese climate. The functional depth of these features insightfully analyzes how the scale and proportion embody the Hoi An style.
