I’ve always been a bit confused about the structure of a dissertation and how much weight should be put in for each section as it is quite a big project to undertake. My biggest concern is conceptualizing an idea for a good topic of discussion for a dissertation whilst also having a good amount of written materials to use as references and research purposes. An example being William I of Scotland. Lot's of rich history of an important reign of the Scottish crown, however, not a lot is know about significant portions of his reign, also, unlike many other former Scottish monarchs, he doesn't have a full book dedicate to him. Hence my concern of how to find an interesting dissertation topic, whilst maintaining a healthy balance for significant sources.
