I have come to realize WWII was very horrible for a lot of people including me. More than anyone would think. The screaming of the dead rewinds back into my brain as I am thinking about the war. Would this treaty actually stay in place or would someone break it again leading to the deaths of many others? Some people are cheering that this war is over but I do not think that it is. If Germany got defeated right now what reasons do not they have to become powerful again and attack again? I am thrilled that people will not die due to this war but people do not think of the destruction the war has actually caused. There was a change in the '20s when electronics were being invented. We had stuff like radios becoming more common in the streets. Jazz music also became popular compared to the times when I served in the war. After that stocks also became common. People, including me, had invested much in it, but the problems came. Stocks were starting to crash and people started selling them so they were worth even less. Due to a lot of people investing and losing the vast majority of their wealth, homelessness rates skyrocketed. People like me couldn't afford to keep their homes and had no way to support their families. There are lots of veterans I recognize in the homeless camp like me, to think we almost died here and came back to live in poverty is saddening. On August 7, 1939, I and my friends were having fun at the beach of Juno. There were children playing around and couples making out at the beach. It was good times there and now look at 3 years later, where our calm and heartwarming beach became a barbed wire no-man land where thousands have died. On August 25, I woke up and dreamed about having my friends killed in a phenomenal event. This woke me up immediately and as I realized it was a dream, I felt nourished and relieved. I went back to bed, later hearing the radio that there will be a war starting soon. I and my friends gathered at the nearest tree and talked about it. When we heard that they are recruiting men, we decided it would be a good opportunity to prove to the country our courage and bravery. We might also get discounts in stores and find more opportunities after the war ends. After getting recruited, we did a lot of tough training exercises and made our way into the corporal. One of my friends did really well, so he got the rank sergeant. A few weeks later, we were sent to the battlefield to fight off the Germans in France to support them. However, we did not succeed and had to call the English Channel to pick us up. After that failure, we were de-ranked as privates and sent to another battlefield, and that certain battlefield was none other than Juno Beach. the beach where couples and kids play turns into a man fighting zone. I was devastated that they were taking over this area, so I charged head-in. Suddenly, a bullet barrage pierced through my vest and I slowly withered away. By the time when the war was over, I woke up. I saw my friends, being covered by nurses and doctors. I knew I couldn't lose them since they were my only friends, but it was too late. It was all because of me that they tried to help me but were also shot fatally.
