1) Why use drama and drama activities in school? Agree on 4 points to put in Padlet
-Drama lets you losen up.
-Drama is asking the students to be active.
-Students can express themselves.
-Drama can let the children improve much of their skills. Like speaking, listening, communication critical thinking skills ...

2) Mention at least 5 good ideas from the texts and links for using drama in the schools (add to Padlet)
-We can include songs and dance like in a musical.
-Public performance: opportunity to perform so that children can be more responsible and confident afterwards
-Tell them a story and let them act out the most dramatic scene.
-Role-on-the-wall: outline of a character, write statements around it. Discribe the character to the teacher And then the teacher can think about who the character is.
-the students are standing in a line. The first person does a movement to the second, the second to the thirth... The last person does the movement and then we will see if the movement is still correct.

Our lesson plan:
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1DI4JOrV98eUdOMlgzGOsmrdJ_ynL7S3tEZx3Z_0Q3lY/edit

1) Why use drama and drama activities in school? Agree on 4 points to put in Padlet

- It creates a good atmosphere in the class.

- Pupils can develop a good sense of self confidence

- Theater can decrease bullying because you don’t have to judge and accept everyone how they are

- Pupils can learn differently, using another way

2) Mention at least 5 good ideas from the texts and links for using drama in the schools (add to Padlet)

- The drama allows the student to be engaged in the task

- It's a big part of the motivation

- It increases interpersonal skills

- It increases language skills

- It increases the creative power of the student

3) Find out how you can plan a teaching session for a class in school using some drama activities

To teach argumentation in class, we can use theater. All the pupils pretend to be in a court and there are some lawyers, judge etc. Everyone has a role and the lawyers has to defend or argue. This allows them to understand how argumentation works

4) You decide on age group, subject, length of time, and of course goals of the session.

This activity could be done at the age of 12 years old. The subject would be argumentation in the country language, for instance in Switzerland and in Belgium it would be worked during French lessons. To work on it and improve argumentation it is important to work/practice, for example, one hour every two days. The goal of this activity is to understand how argumentation works and how can we construct arguments to create a good argumentation.

1. Explanation of the activity

2. Give example of what is an argumentation, how does it work in a court. If possible show a video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GSu7BGbyJqc

3. Explain each role, what they do in a court (lawyer, judge, client, witnesses, etc.)

4. Present the subject that the student would act, defend

5. Give the roles to the class

6. Ask the pupils to prepare their arguments to be able to act it in the class

7. Act the scene

8. Feedback about what could it be done to improve the argumentation aspect

Drama in school:
- increases creativity and motivation in the kids
- improves relations between students-students / students-teachers
- especially good in the language classrooms - drama is about communicating and beeing understood
- can help learners that need movement to learn/who learn with their bodies

5 good ideas from the texts:
- play the owl and the pussycat - good text to use for drama activities
- reflect after using drama - what went well, what can be improved, do we want to do it again?
- add an audience to the situation - if you have people to play for you are more concentrated and try to do your best
- good for working with intercultural competence - every student can act in their own language, but through the acting the dialogue you can still understand what is happening
- drama is a good way to teach students how to handle conflicts - if they have had drama exercises that showed how to handle a conflict they might handle a real situation better later on
